Me and sky were supposed to be at Donington tomorrow but have knocked it back due to the weather
I'm there tomorrow for first track day since April 2015 and third overall. I take it BN when you cancel at last minute you lose your money or can you just move it to another date? Shame would have liked to see your new R1.Did Donington today... Despite st weather forecast all day we thought seeing as we had paid we had nothing to lose ...
1st session - damp in places
2nd, 3rd session - bone dry
4th session wet (sat out)
5th, 6th session - dry and sunny
Last session - pissing down (too tired to care)
Excellent day out and I got my mojo back for track days!

Had my first experience of Silverstone this week on the full GP circuit, and it certainly delivered. Easily my favourite track so far
Getting your knee down is so last year, as I nearly got my fat arse down
You and me both. I was there too - what a fast corner track! What group was you in as I didnt see youGetting your knee down is so last year, as I nearly got my fat arse down
It was my 4th track day and must say it took me most the day to remember it, but I was getting the apex's by the end haha
I only did 2 video's, here is one of them
https://youtu.be/k4vi6y0BxMs
Was first time at Silverstone for me, so was in Novice group
You wouldn't have seen me even if I was in your group as going by your video, you were lapping 15-20seconds a lap faster than me

Donnington drys bloody quick doesn't it.
It pissed it down before lunch, I changed to Wets and it was bone dry come my session. Mental just how quick it drys.
Agreed ... I think being so open with little shelter on the track really helps dry quickly with little wind.It pissed it down before lunch, I changed to Wets and it was bone dry come my session. Mental just how quick it drys.
Despite not enjoying it the first time I visited I absolutely loved it this time round!

Yeah, you can (I have in the past) get your money back, not sure of the exact timescale though.. We turned up at Donington last July when I was pissing down, no return of monies then.graeme4130 said:

Damn you for going again! I fancy it again but got cadwell on 7th and poss Donni on the 21st May so need to keep my pennies now. IOM this year has rinsed meWas first time at Silverstone for me, so was in Novice group

I think I ran something like 2.28/2.29 round there as a mate asked what I was doing but they had them cones in the way before the long straight and I think that slowed alot of people including me down a bit
Cheers BN and OCD.
Just got back from Donington today. BN, you did the right thing in not bothering. Was flipping cold. Stayed dry all day until snow at 3pm soaked the track and wasn't going to bother putting wets on as riding bike in snow wasn't going to be fun.
Good day up until then and got 5 sessions of dry riding in so happy with that. Going to try silverstone mid May I think as haven't ridden on that track since new start/finish was put in.

2:29's a great time, which I guess put you near the front of the fast group
I got down to around 2:55 on the day, but I suspect I can take 5-10 seconds off that just by learning all the bloody corners
I like Donny. I'm back there on the 5th and 12th may. At least I know that circuit having done 15-20 days there in cars, so none of the corners should creep up on me out of no where - saying that, had a trip to the gravel there on my bike a couple of weeks ago. Kept it upright just, but smashed my nuts on the tank so hard, I had to spend a bit of time with a cold drinks can on them to bring the swelling down !
Well after two weeks of st luck (i had a blow out on the r6 near scotland which cost me 200 quid to get towed home, then i got home jumped in my car hit a pothole which smashed an alloy, collapsed a shock and tore off an engine mount, then as i loaded up the van i snapped my front disk carrier on the track bike) i saw this weather and thought feck that im staying in bed.
The wife convinced me to go, she must of had the milk man coming round, but anyway i dragged my arse out of bed and started the day like anyone with a white van does at 4am....some layby dogging...
met the other lads and set of. Id only done cadwell once before a year ago when i was in novices and i absoloutly hated the place so i thought id drop down to inters and see how i got on. Due to snapping my dry wheel disk i had my wet front on and dry rear already and with a damp but drying track it was perfect to go out on. As i came in my mate threw a bag of those bolt/clip things that hold your disks on which he found in his van. Result i could put my dry front on and enjoy the day.
The weather was crazy all day but for some reason it pretty much dried for every inters session which was a stroke of luck. i managed to stay on supercorsas and push pretty much every session. It did snow for about 5 minutes and most people packed up just before lunch but then the sun came out and it was dry for every session.
It wasnt the warmest and wasnt the fastest but it was one of the funnest track days ive ever had. It was the first time ive been out with mates that were similar speed to me so i had some great battles with two of them and it cemented the fact that i should be in the fast group even on tracks i dont get on with which was a nice confidence boost. I did feel a bit like one of those guys that every one hates that books into inters to be the quickest but i really thought i was gonna be holding everyone up there. Some of the closing speeds when i was coming to overtake people was a bit dodgy but half the people went home at lunch so i couldnt be bothered moving groups, which turned out a blessing as the other groups caught small showers a couple of times.
Great day despite cadwell still being my bogey track. If only they took the section from the bottom of the mountain to the start of the finish straight away itd be awesome. You know, the bits that everyone else seems to love.
even a bit of sunbathing from my mate
Hopefully the pictures will be up today or tomorrow.

Looking forward to Thursday, but I won't be treated to the nice weather we had last week. At best it'll be 5deg and at worst snowing

The last bit..owph! That'll be a memory to remember. Im trying to get a trackday a month under my belt. Any track is a new track as Ive not done any. Looking forward to Cadwell though, been told its very thin in comparison to the wide Silverstone2:29's a great time, which I guess put you near the front of the fast group

I went to Knockhill. My dad was riding with some of his mates aswell.
It was sunny going there but fking baltic. A temperature of 1.5 in the car before we went out. I had to defrost the car.
The briefing was 20 minutes late.
First session out was that cold I had to come in from frozen hands.
Then someone in novice broke his ankle. As a result we had to wait 45 minutes to get back out as they only had one set of medics and they were helping him in the medic room.
Next session out an Aprilia decided to blow it's engine right infront of me. Which apparently was quite spectacular. I felt like ghost rider going through the smoke.
That was another 45 minutes delay as they cleared the track. What can you do.
I got out for one session Where I could feel the front start to go on four occasions and I wasn't even pushing as much as I could. I know people will read this thinking bullst. But at the hairpin, so 40 miles and hour it started to tuck. My knee was down so I pushed and got up right. Look probably not a save. Probably in my head. But it fk me it was too cold to be riding at any pace. You had no idea of the grip levels.
Then it snowed just as I went to go out so that was red flagged.
It then didn't stop snowing and they had to cancel the afternoon. Albeit rather reluctantly.
20 miles I managed. If I'd paid £225 I'd have been livid. Some guys did. We get a 65 quid voucher for loosing the afternoon.
I know I'm sounding grumpy as fk. Maybe I'm overacting. Maybe I'm a dick. I don't blame Knockhill in anyway for the weather or a blown engine. But to start late and to piss about for 45 minutes due to lack of cover when it's put out at that price is Disappointing tbh. You realise how slick no limits are. The discounted price I paid will still be the dearest track day I buy this year. But it just never came near what's on offer down south.
My dad and his friends had a wonderful time though. Who doesn't on their first track day. My dad looked ok as well. Certainly not the slowest by a long shot.
Here's some photos of him.
I am sorry for being so negative and grumpy. But that today just scunnered me. I've had better days where I've came off.

Suck it up Alex - you live in Scotland man , the seasons are a thing of the past and Knockhill has a microclimate even if it's cracking the flags 1 mile away , it can and does do anything anytime. I drove past fields of snow a foot deep going to work today and I have to go and do some work in Scotland next week ! bds !Anyway - did you book and going to Portimao Neil Mc?
Few of the lads are looking at the October 4 dayer, which I can do...?
Cheers.
