Yes all bled from furthest away back a couple of times using a vacuum bleeder. Confirmed with no air bubbles coming through.

Not thought of back filling, so will see if I can try that.

Got Croft on the 23rd but that's my only outing so far this year! Just busy with work to get the mid-week days free frown Shame, cos I managed 8 track days last year!

Anyone at Brands GP today?

Had a few mates there in the pissing rain. Was a bit of crash fest!

After completing lvl 1 back in May, I did California Superbike School lvl2 at Silverstone today.
I'll be honest, that I was a bit unsure as to how much I took away from lvl1 straight after, but after a few track days to absorb what I'd leant, I'd say it was worth doing for me.
I learnt a lot at Level 2 today, and have booked to go back in August for Level 3
Anyone else been through the levels ?
Pretty happy with today's photo too (before it bloody pissed it down for the last session)

Looking a lot better. Least now you won't get punted down to novice on a chrono day biggrin

I shouldn't mock. After I had my arse well and truly handed to me by 20 bsb boys I feel a step down to novice is needed.

Was at Brands Hatch doing the GP Circuit yesterday. Full turn-out. Arrived about 6:20am, loads of garages available. There would have been space to squeeze in though had I have been later.

First track-day on the new bike (GSXR-1000), having recently sold the faithful R6. Briefing done and dusted and out for sighting laps – I always thought Brands GP was run as 4 groups, each getting 15 min sessions though yesterday was run as 4 groups, each getting 20mins a session. I was in Inters 2, essentially 1 up from Novice.

Sighting laps went ok though as I was out on brand new Supercorsas on a bike I had not ridden before with a fairly damp atmosphere, I took it very steady – no-one wants to be the guy that throws it at the scenery on the sighting laps..

Instructors pulled in and away we went. Took a couple of laps to remember that this was the GP and not Indy circuit – I hadn’t appreciated the size of the circuit around the back, plenty to learn (with some damp patches to boot). I found myself often in the middle of the track around the back sections, not really linking bits up until later in the day when I got a tow from some faster guys.

Second session was spitting with rain towards the end so again, pretty leisurely. Then we had a couple of dry sessions and I started to click with the bike (though it’s very different to the old girl and so even by the end of the day I wasn’t totally dialled into it – it’ll happily lift the rear under moderate braking even at the top end of second gear).

Bit of lunch and then back out. 1 session and then the heavens opened. A few guys with wets went out but as allot of the guys had already done a tyre change in the morning when it was spitting (and looking like it was going to lash it down – though didn’t), many couldn’t be arsed.

The rain got harder and a fair bunch started to pack away. A few brave souls were out on wets whilst the rain was HAMMERING down but most didn’t fancy it.

Lots of red flags through the whole day so was lucky to get a session that wasn’t stopped but a symptom of the weather I suppose. Some lovely bikes going round, couple of R1M’s, MV Augustas and even an Aprillia RS250 having its neck wrung.

It was my first time riding at Brands and there was allot going on – new bike, new tyres, damp, first TD of the year etc so it’s fair to say I didn’t get the full experience there though I loved Paddock Hill and the start-finish (oh and dropping under the bridge and braking up the hill).

It was nearly £180 for the day which is pretty punchy when you compare with some other circuits but it was nice to emulate the BSB boys… albeit much slower

Thoughts on the bike:
• Slipper Clutch – absolutely EPIC. The days of the arse bouncing around or locking under heavy braking are over.. so much less unsettling and takes the thought out of braking
• Quick shifter – not convinced it’s set up properly or at least I am not using it properly / it might need adjusting for me. HM QS+ so I’ll check the settings for next time. Bit disappointed it didn’t work consistently for me – suspect I am being a clutz.
• Quick action throttle – didn’t notice TBH
• Extra 400cc and extra 65bhp. The GSXR is a small bike so size-wise, it felt fine compared to the R6. But Christ it moves.. but thankfully stops.. Hats off to anyone that rides a 200+bhp monster on track, in the damp.

Got a busy couple of months so next time out is probably Snett in August but at least I have some time to get the QS working properly.

No pics I'm afraid

I did Snetterton on my GSXR1000 K7 last week, in perfect conditions and the bike is fun, but I'm a bit disappointed with its power in comparison to my K2. There is not a lot of difference, I found it a bit jerky low down, so I think I am going to get it mapped.

The suspension is still not right and getting the odd wobble, felt like I was loosing the front a bit(Out of ago's), could be old tyres or suspension set up.

I also forgot about the front brake, I recently had the bike serviced and the front brake fluid wasn't touched as it get master cylinder recall carried out this Saturday. 9 year old brake fluid certainly does go off! By the end of the session I could pull the lever all the way in....my mistake I should have remembered!

The slipper clutch is awesome.

What I found from the day is that my mates on track SV650's had a lot more fun that the guys on 1000's and could pretty much keep up with them to!

I'd certainly look at that. My K7 was a bit rough low down as I have removed the cat, oxy sensor and exhaust valve. One dyno day and a reflash of the ECU and its now very smooth. Made 177 up from 165 before the reflash. (Yes, yes I know dyno's are all different etc and its hard/imposssible to judge on figures alone but its pretty quick now and very smooth through the rev range, more than enough for me!)

It has a Yoshi, decat on it. I had to put a baffle in for the day but I don't think that will make a difference to power.

1st gear seems really long, 2nd there is no wheelie, no bad thing but I was expecting it to be ahead of the K2.

I'm also still get the odd speed wobble/slapper 2nd/3rd, part of me thinks it could be my bad fitting oversized leathers combined with my height over the screen, which is causing the front to go light. New Dainese leathers are in the post.

MCT for suspension is 30 miles west and BSD performance for Dyno is 30 miles east, so I guess I try them both.

Bike is costing me some dosh!

Fun day at Silvertstone today on the GP Circuit. My 4th time there now, so starting to remember all the corners smile
The forecast for the day was really quite bad, and the girl there said they'd had over 40 no shows, so fast group was probably only around a dozen of us, which made it nice and quiet, but actually a bit lonely at times as you could do 4 or 5 laps and only see one other bike.
The weather was really good, and actually pretty warm until the second session after lunch, when the heavens properly opened. I was knackered, so called it a day at that point rather than faffing about fitting wets and getting the last session in.
Interesting day, and got absolutely annihilated by Scott Redding on the track, who was there doing talks with Bennets, and then jumped on a 1299S for the first session after lunch. He's a nice guy and came and did talks in the garages for each group (Silverstone group you together in garages)
As there were so few in our group, He only made his Q&A with about 8 of us, and then stuck around and chatted with a few people. He seemed a nice lad and genuinely quite humble.
I wasn't expecting him to go out on track, but coming down the wellington straight under the bridge, I started to get hard on the brakes, only to have a bright red 1299S with a number plate come past me on full gas and hit the left/right section faster than I thought was possible. I did try and follow him, but after 3 corners he was well out of sight - The White Pramac leathers were a give away though. Spoke to him in the garage after and he said he just fancied a blast and actually misses track days with his mates where he can turn up and just ride without the whole session either trying to race him or just gawping at him as he lines up in the pit lane.
First time for me on Pirelli slicks, and they seemed to have more grip than I had balls to use them. Not dissimilar to Super Corsa's, but I'm hoping to get more than 2-3 track days out of them, and at £220 delivered, they're a lot cheaper too
Took another 5 seconds off my lap best there to have a fastest lap of 2mins 41

No youtube video of my arse this time though, as forget Gopro
Next stop Donnington on the 28th if anyone else from here is going ?

Oh yeah, a guy in our garage couldn't get his bike started and it was smoking a bit. Turned out he'd filled his Jerry can with Diesel by mistake in a half asleep garage stop on the way to the circuit, whoops !

How did Scott Redding clear off? Last time you were at Silverstone you were c15 seconds a lap quicker than he went on his MotoGP bike last year wink

On a slightly more serious note, if you're honest he would have have been barely visible by the time you exited the first corner and long gone before the second. There is a level that MotoGP riders ride at that we simply do not understand.

I so badly need a slipper clutch but I'm too Jewishly tight to buy one

My road bike has it and like you said... Wow but my track bike is just a cheap and cheerful. Next one I'll get something new with it fitted

I'm at snett on the 20th as a bit of a Billy no mates just meeting an old mx mate there

Also on 27th following Monday got loads of us going

I will but

I'm pissed in the canaries playing mini golf. But just incase people think I'm being serious I just ain't.

I was doing On average 58s Laps round there with traffic. Mainly me getting sat up and these guys were gone. I done a 56 before I came in.

to put it into perspective, I pushed on that lap time, I distinctively remember. I was shouting in my helmet, "get it to fking gether you fking dick" seriously I shouted that at myself, thinking right I'm on it now I mean business....this was just as mackenzie came round the outside of me on Duffus on the left hander. I felt humiliated.

As I said I done a 56 second Lap that one and he was gone. I could not comprehend staying with a moto gp rider for more than a corner.

I couldn't with bsb boys. The only one I came close to was the hairpin but that's because all the fkers had just overtaken me on the back straight.

Amd that's an honest answer. Bradley Smith and Pol Espagaro destroyed the hugely experienced professional endurance racers at Suzuka last year on R1s. None of us are good enough to be anywhere near pro racers.

Just booked snetterton evening session for Monday. Will be on the BMW GS again to show up some sports bikes tongue out.

Few bits to check/do on the Ducati then I will be on that at Bedford on the 27th, hope the weather is half decent by then!
