Is the Combe weekend a race ? I'll probably pop along on the Sunday, but the sound hitlers there don't allow my bike on the track Castle Combe: 01/07/16

I will probably be popping along on the Sunday to watch a mate race his 888 (assuming it's still functioning on the Sunday) and a few doing the Lansdowne series.
I'm guessing non-shyte weather will feature highly in my decision to go.
I'm number 89 on a Blue GSX-R 750 SRAD with K1 fairings. I've sold my K1200R and bought this. It's a bit tatty and I've done all the race prep myself. In fact, I've only ridden the thing twice on the road and never on track, so there's no telling what could happen.
I've had my forms come through and it looks like all mine are on the Saturday, but it does also run on the Sunday too. What's your mates number? I'll keep an eye out. Pass on my best wishes of luck to him

He's racing in the old superbike class or whatever it's called. It allows carby R1's of which I own 2 and a quarter - be interesting to see if my old trigger finger starts twitching!

Good luck on the racing - what number are you? "Are you from the internet?" & "Did you used to own a K1300R?" are questions I try to avoid having to resort to.

Ah yeah, that's the pre injection 1300 class. It's what I intended to enter but ultimately I ended up with a 98 bike with FI. It looks a good laugh, sign yourself up for next year! Great day at Snett yesterday...much better than the week before in weather like nothing Ive ridden in before!
First session and sighting laps were slippy, I was reminded quickly at a very moderate pace that Im on Conti race attacks not wets!
Was my first time using the Conti Race Attack soft front and can say I was impressed, it ripped up more than my Pirelli SC1 but never gave way so in my books thats fine
There were loads of us that went the night before and went in our various groups the next day. One of my mates was getting his times down but possibly pushed a little too hard and lost the front, hes ok but the pics below give you an idea of the speed the bike flipped over
Running an endurance rear I got down to 2.07.09. I dont think Im good enough and my old clapped out 2001 GSXR750 is capable on much more I got alot of slipping about from the rear and the brakes were maxed

Graeme - can you post a link to the slicks you mentioned please?
Cheers

I can't find the link to the front, but this is the rear @£120 delivered. Front was £100
My bike goes into MH racing in Chippenham this morning to get the suspension sorted, and I've got some Super Corsa's in the post today too, so anyone want to buy some two day old Pirelli Diablo Superbike Slicks ?
It lashed it down after lunch, so I pottered around on wets on a nearly empty track, and those were the best fun sessions on the day

Wow is that messed up! Feel bad for the guy, hope he fared better than the bike.
Yeh he was smiling after but annoyed given the extent of the damage. He lost the front at just over 100mph but he just got a bruised arse and leather scuffingmoanthebairns said:

It's because you're not leaning far enough on the left to clean the rubber off the edge of the tyre.
ISeriously...so how do you solve that on a track with no real left hander.
All tracks should offer this. Brands & Cadwell in particular would be be awesome!
I think Focused Events (spit!) offered a trackday at MonteBlanco using a different circuit option every day a few years ago and I was almost tempted having done one of the options before.
Imagine a 4 dayer at Aragon with 1st day on MotoGP layout (normal straight, fast left), 2nd day on the old World SBK layout (even longer straight but with a hairpin), 3rd day on car Le Mans test configuration (as before but without the 'brick wall chicane' bit) then on day 4 same thing but backwards..... at night.... pref raining.., Awesome fun and use up all the part worns that are knackered on one side. Is it just me?
