OK, ignore me, its only my local track. plus its a rear tyre not a front. Have you been to knockhill?
No never ridden there so couldnt question your knowledge on the track. If thats a rear then could understand it more to a degree but I thought this was a front tyre? Not ignoring you, merely questioning your answer

Thought I'd give a quick report on my first race at Castle Combe with North Gloucester Road Racing smile

As I said before, this was a brilliant weekend. Arguably one of the best I've ever had, as racing has been a life long dream that until now I never had the means to realistically achieve. My plan now is to get out on track days at as many circuits as possible and learn them, so that I can do a full season next year smile

Just read this through, awesome! Shame to hear about the accidents but it happens and unfortunately is part of it. I am itching to get into road racing but for family reasons thats not happening anytime soon

Looks like you had a great one though and many more to come!

That's a cracking report, and sounds a lot of fun
I'm planning on having a go at racing next year, but I'll probably start off being part of one of the enduro teams in those events (Such as the Nolimits ones), as I've always got someone else to blame then smile
You'll do well to get onto an endurance race nowadays, the No Limits one is the only national level race series in the UK and was sold it for the whole year within a day of being announced. You're out there with a lot of National level racers too, which can be an eye opener.

Glad you liked it smile being relatively new to trackdays I've not really done one before. Yeah it's a shame, horrible in fact, but as you say, that's racing.

Hopefully in the future you can have a bash at it yourself, and give me a shout when you do! biggrin

Not having a dig but that's "not racing", the poor bugger that dies has it easy, its everyone that's left behind that suffers.

Agreed, especially when it's as close to home as we've both had this year frown

Well.. if you want to race it's a risk i guess. It would have been much less likely on a trackday as since they were so close the obstacle was completely unsighted.

I wasn't trying to suggest that if you race, you die.

After speaking to and seeing a lot of the other racers and people who knew him and seeing how upset they were, i can see the effects. I myself was pretty choked up when i found out. Especially since I'd been there and seen it first hand.

Very sad frown

Yep.
It did seem a bit of a cavalier attitude towards it.

Yes my bad, I dont think I meant it quite as I put it. I may have just been typing away on here without actually reading it back so apologies. My background is racing since 1993

I have broken many bones in that times but the one that done me was March 2014 racing a track in Peterborough. Two of us crashed hard that day, I was one of them. In my crash I snapped my femur which came out my leg and caused huge internal bleeding, I dislocated my hip, fractured my pelvis, hyper rotated my knee (I have almost no PCL or PLC now), broke my collar bone, 3 ribs and wrist. I was air lifted to addenbrokes and in intensive care for two weeks but they saved my leg. The other guy broke his neck and was in the ward next to me, 8 days in right next to me he chocked and died

He was well known in the racing community as a vet (+35) and helped the local club committee scrutineer bikes etc

Its an addictive hobby and Im not sure why so many of us do it, maybe its the thrill or risk Im not sure? Im now just doing track days and enjoying the social aspect of it

On a plus side I now look like robocop in an xray and set the damn things off whenever I go through a scanner...anyone that says they dont is fibbing as I bleep them all haha

Near in mind that there have been a spate recently of tragic losses and some of us may know them personally, so it's not quite he same as "the other bloke in the bed next to me".

On a lighter note, I still think Bikers Nemesis beats you on injuries. You sound like a pussy in comparison wink

Saw a chap at Donnington today ride down the pit lane with his rear tyre warmer on
Sorry for the crap photo, but didn't really get my phone out in time
Luckily for him, he had a few people flag him down before it ended up badly

That's the benefit of working for myself. I can cram the hours in and work weekends and in turn get a day or two off in the week
Today, I think, is my 18th this year
Not feeling it today though and seem to go slower when trying to go faster frown
In saying that, we've not had many Laps yet as every session's been red flagged so far
Still, I'm having a better day than the ones that have caused it, so I'm not complaining

Exactly smile
Just arrived at oulton park and stuck my bike in the garage overnight before heading to hotel
Seeing as this is PH, and you guys will appreciate this, the guy who's in the garage I've dumped my bike into was also at Donnington and has a 918 spider and a 991 GT3 RS tucked up in his garage at home and raced LMP1 cars !!

Anybody ever been to Mondello Park?

I'm heading to Ireland end of this month and they have a day on Sunday the 31st... while I'm over there would it be rude not too?

Watched a short video and it looks alright... Heart keeps telling me I might not get back over to Ireland for some time... Brain/Wallet says not too hehe
