Looking very likely to be my first wet track day tomorrow (in fact since passing my test I've probably completed less than 100 wet miles). Not sure what to expect. But I hope I enjoy it as much as MTB and some others on here.

I'm still crossing my fingers for a change in forecast...

i'm working about 5 miles from knockhill and the rain is bouncing here, I got drowned walking 10 yards for a fag. Good luck. frown
Even more irony Alex , you know the staircase kid ? Well you're talking to him above ...!

Well I've earned my wet wings. Ended up doing the members free session too, so 4 hours all in. Actually it was pretty good. No funny moments, felt I was making good progress. Only annoying thing was the weather - not the wetness but the fact it couldn't make up it's fking mind. It would semi dry, then rain, then semi dry, then rain. Then it pretty much dried, so I put the slicks on, got about 15 glorious minutes before it shat itself again, with 15 mins to go.

But anyway, kept her shiny side up which can't be said for a large handful of people today. Plenty knee down action. Mildred faultless as always. So all in it was a success biggrin

V2 may mean Version 2. I'd happily use either - in fact I'm still occasionally use Supercorsas and Supercorsa Pros. As long as it's a race compound one it will be fine and no problem mixing and matching earlier fronts and backs with each other.

Nice link. I'll be grabbing a set of them.

Last time I bought them, the price was £280 for a pair.

Welcome 5 % off coupon code or try hello for 10%

It is the 55 which I believe makes it turn in slower

I think I'll try a new rear at that price tbh. Just got some scrubs mind you.

Cheers man, I'll give it a try.

55 profile is ideal for turn in, what do you usually use?

60 on track, but most bikes are 55 standard, my wets are 55 and turn in feels a bit slower, but that might be due to the make up of the tyre as has been pointed out to me or all in my head. I don't know....

I called the guy, asking for the difference between this and the v2, I thought it might be a road supercorsa with the extra tread pattern but it states SC2 that's the track compound, its not even on the manufactures website, it'll be perfectly fine obviously. And the most pleasant commonwealth cousin I've ever spoken to down the other end of the phone insures me that the v2 gets 10,000km this slightly less. Great news, I am no longer at the mercy of tyre fitting companies. laugh

free returns btw, if it turns out to be road.

Ah right, yeah I guess the 55 would be a little slower. I used to use 50 and so going to a 55 was obviously an improvement for me.

As for the Supercorsas you're looking at, I can fully vouch for them. I'm running a set and grip is fantastic. Considering they are SC1&2 wear is also really good.

They've effectively done 4 full trackdays, with an extra few sessions here and there, with even the occasional quick road test. Wear is even, with no tears and still nearly 2mm left till the wear markers, I've not been hanging about either. Grip hasn't really fallen off too much from what I can tell so I fully intend to use them at Silverstone later this month.

Edit: I misread your tyre post. I assumed you were using the V2 (lightning bolt) currently. Pretty much everyone I've met is using that type, and I'm the only one I've seen with single tread. Indeed the trackday/raceday tyre fitter I used last time said he'd never seen the single tread pattern before.

I have been using the lightening strike ones, albeit scrubs. I cant say I get the same wear as you, 2 days max, but then again mines are scrubs that have done a superstock race or qualifying.

It'll be nice to have a new tyre on track, I'll see how wear goes and such then maybe try some dunlops, slicks, etc when my scrubs are used up, they are all going to be fine for my level but be nice not to need to change tyres as often.

From what I've seen most places don't sell the ones like mine, I think mine came over from a European seller on eBay.

I've never used scrubs before but I've got a stack of Supercorsa V2, Racetec Interacts and CompK scrubs sitting around to get through so I'll see how they last when I get a chance to use them.

As for my wear, perhaps I need to try harder!

I get about 3 days out of a new set, but they're past their best after 2
I've worn pairs down to the wear indicator, but you can certainly tell the difference in grip after they start to get even close

I find them ok at the wear indicators, its when they get this low you start to feel a bit of movement

Had a Chrono track day at Donington on Monday. Focused Events were the hosts.

The day started slowly, the track was a mess from the weekends racing, so we were forced to wait before the first groups could go out, about 20 minutes.

The organisers were waving the black flags at seemingly random people for reasons unknown, though we think it was noise related. Ejecting a few people early infact for noise limits...but for example there could have been a group of bikes going through, next lap they single out one rider and blamed them for noise limits and adios, go home.

Towards the end of the day, the attitude from the organisers became quite offensive, stopping myself quite a few others from going out, ending our day early, no apparently setting off the noise alarms...bear in mind, my bike, a 1995 ZX6R with a stock exhaust and aftermarket can, would barely reach 95db static, but apparently too loud on drive by(98db limit)... Some of the bikes out there, with baffles were 'LOUD'.

My friend who was there also, ZX6R also, was allowed out initially, even though basically the same bike/exhaust, yet my bike was louder...Ok then...he got 90% of the last session of the day before being black flagged...for a mis shift along the main straight. The hostility he, myself, and others received from the organisers was surprising.

Long and short of it- we won't be using Focused Events ever again.

Donington though, now that's a mega track! I did the Ron Haslam school there a few weeks ago too(those bikes were louder than mine...)

Are you sure it was focused who were enforcing the rules, or was it the Donington marshals? Both are pretty draconian and I wouldn't go near either with yours.

Sounds like typical Focused "customer service"

Surely the marshals point out the infringement to the TDO and they have the right to send them home or retest them.

Its 98db drive by at Donnie, I think oulton is like 94 db, you'd be doing bloody well to get a stock 20 year old ninja to fail that. Even my 675 with arrow end can passes a quiet day there.

Here's the kicker...the noise test was done by the TDO...BY EAR. Didn't use a meter. Just revved mine and other bikes up in the pit lane and told us to bugger off, we're not allowed on track. Heck, even some like mine, just looked at the exhaust for a baffle, if one wasn't fitted, they said go away.

It was the TDO for sure doing this. The guy who gave the morning briefing, was in the TDO stand during the day, wore all the company gear...

That's outrageous. I'd be asking for a refund, or contacting your credit card company and getting them to do the leg work. Wnakers.
