I'd love to be able to ride as quickly and smoothly as you demonstrated though.
I Very nearly nailed someone big style coming out of the pits at Knockhill last year, he was hard on the gas on the last 3rd of the pit exit yet while I took a quick glance to make sure nothing was coming over the brow at 130+_ mph matey in front had rolled off and was fking about with no hands on his bars adjusting his gloves.
You have to pay attention on track and trust no one.

That was me wasn't it. I'm so sorry. That was only my 4th or 5th track day and I never thought. I still curl my toes about that when I think about it. I didn't know you were behind me. But in my defence the say your not meant to pin it joining the track. There's no need as they send you out in a gap.
Actually there's no defence im sorry again.

Thanks very much John
I had problems with that MSS linkage. Spoke to Aky and he said he had to get his shock revalved to make it work. Just had it serviced by ktech and they never mentioned it
I did say you had to have the shock re-done Neil. Sorry if I didn't explain it well enough mate.I had problems with that MSS linkage. Spoke to Aky and he said he had to get his shock revalved to make it work. Just had it serviced by ktech and they never mentioned it

Coming onto a track after exiting the pit lane you should be up to speed which isn't that difficult at Knocckhill as everyone is hard on the brakes and on the right hand side of the track.
I never ever dawdle onto a live track and usually wait for a gap before joining.
Croft can be bad as people are staying to the Left before tipping into the first right hander.. I saw a lad take an Instructor out doing just that at Croft 6 or 7 years ago.
Whats done is done, just forget about it, everyone makes mistakes when they start, I would have no problem following you out of the pits now as you know what can happen.
I think me and the bike would have made a real nasty mess of you if I had connected.
This is the way to leave the pits.

You're absolutely supposed to pin it to join the track..... As for adjusting gloves whilst on the track...?A guy was once told off for it. He pinned it as I was approaching
The Marshall had let him out thinking I'd be past whilst he joins but he done like a racing start. We almost came together.
I adjusted my gloves on the pit straight bit. Not on track.

Alex, are you sure you're not getting mixed up. KH pit exit warning as I remember it was not to speed in pitlane, but use the slip road part to get up to speed quickly. Makes more sense than joining slowly into the path of fast bikes
+1Most pit exits are close to a corner. If the pits are on the inside of the track, at least people are off line. If the pits are on the outside of the track (most circuits), then the pit exit puts people right into the zone where people are braking heavily.
Take Donnington as an example. You want to be effectively doing a 0-60 type test when released by the pit marshal. At somewhere like Jerez, if you're not on full gas coming out of the pits, you're going to cause a massive accident.
Likewise, making sure you stay within designated pit exit markings on the track to avoid collecting people.
I don't see how any of this isn't common sense?

Possibly. I'm not saying dwalde on. But the chap who floored it came and apologised and mentioned he wasn't to absolutely nail it. But maybe I've miss interpreted or been told wrong. Not the first time I've been there and been told something different. When I started out they said once the chequered flag is out half pace for the rest of the lap. I done this next time I was there and got told off. Well spoken to politely. That is was to continue as normal till the last corner. Then half pace.
I could be wrong about joining though I just now go on at 2/3 rds speed. Should I nail it.

I had a mate doing the ACU test. On the race start practice at Brands they are clearly told to proceed when the light goes out and they are coming into the pits via Surtees and not doing a full lap. They are told they don't need to be race pace after the start but should me mindful of other bikes if slowing down. Red lights go off and they all sprint off the line only for the guy in front to slam the brakes on going into Paddock. My mate had to ditch his bike to avoid taking him out....at a cost of £1700.Some people will never get it

Tony, you can only hope that the d1ck slamming his brakes on wasn't given a license....Some people will never get it

Just the first few I looked at. Honestly, this is generally how people go out from knockhill. Never full gas
