Booked for Mallory 7th April. Will be my first trackday on a proper sized bike (used to race pitbike supermoto) I'm looking forwards to it.

Fingers crossed it doesn't rain, I'd booked Donnington last year but cancelled due to rain and never managed to get another one booked until now!

Guess the only question now is take my Thundercat which I don't mind binning (but do commute on) or my 2009 Tuono which is my pride and joy!?

Edited by patchb on Thursday 2nd February 23:36
I ride a Tuono on road and would definitely take that on track if my gsxr let me down. I took my MV Dragster on track a few times when my old track bike was being rebuilt.

Anyone wants to get early bookings Ive just called focused events and put £5 deposit for Donni 30th July on Sunday. Chrono timing too. Ages away but get that one booked early

Mint few days in Cartagena, but I'm battered now, as is the box on my bike
I'll get it down to JHS as soon as I'm back home, and hopefully they can replicate what's been going on on the dyno
Got a good few laps in in the rain yesterday, which I love and then sun shone today, but both myself and bike were knacjered, so not sure I did it any justice
Anyway, got a decent pic from the photographer

What an awesome picture! So envious! We started the track day stuff about the same time and I could only wish to have that style. Such a bad point on my riding.

Awesome picture cool

Maybe have a look at a Nova gearbox if they're a known weak point?

This. All the duke boys get their 1098's done by Nova and have nothing but praise for them. Pricey though!

I did think about it as the ZX10R gearboxes are known to be pants, and I only had the selector forks done back in oct
Nova gearbox for my bike is £2,500+ fitting so pretty steep
I suppose on the plus side, I could always sell it on as if I crashed badly enough to destroy the gearbox, that gearbox would be the least of my worries smile

That sort of money would write me off with track days. I built my gearbox on my donkey k1 for £172 haha

Chalk and cheese with the bikes though but even still £2500 would have me wincing a bit

Anyone ever done a day at RAF Odiham? Obviously being an airfield it's no donington but it looks like good fun and it's only £60 a day.
I'm considering it as living in bournemouth my nearest track is castle Combe followed by brands or pembrey. Odiham is only an hour from me so by far the closest.

Yeah, I agree, it's silly money
I'm going racing on that bike this year, so really hope I can find a cheaper solution to getting it sorted rather than having to spend that much
Bike goes into JHS racing next week when it gets back to the UK, and hopefully, we can look at a shimming option, which hopefully will make the gearbox need less time between rebuilds than every few months as this is getting pricey and the reliability of ZX10R boxes could be a pointer to me stripping the bike, and selling it in bits to fund something different. The problem is, I prefer the ZX10R to the new R1 or S1000RR, which are the only real alternatives

Yup tricky one, especially when you got a bike that's so good and has a great feel about it but one thing let's it down... I get that

I used JHS once many years ago and he mugged me off a bit, I know fast bikes often use him so when they put a post on Facebook a while back I put exactly what he done and the whole fast bikes post not just mine was removed

I think he's good at what he does but forever in my eyes he'll be a mug

I'll bear that in mind. I've only ever dealt with them once with the revolving of my Steering damper, and they did a great job in a short amount of time and a a good price.
However, this will be more complex as I need some electrical gremlins looking at too, and a dyno run as well as the gearbox
They are reasonably local to me though, at around 35miles away
