I'm not really feeling it yet. I've normally got a Euro jaunt booked by now but even that has been left behind
I was always a late starter
After all these years on track my enthusiasm is starting to wain, I'm just not feeling the love for it anymore.I was always a late starter
I reckon the end of next year might be it for me unless I get my mojo back.

Booked snetterton for monday 20th
Anyone else going?
First one of the year, new track bike this year so using it as a bit of a shake down.
Bit nervous and super excited at the same time. September seems such a long time ago since i was on track
Ash
Exactly same as me but I'm week after with open pit lane. Always nervous and worrying because no matter how thorough you are things come loose, don't work as expected or there are sessions just to get it doing what you want Anyone else going?

I think you'd have way more fun resto'ing and trackdaying an old OW-01, OW-02 or a Loctite FZ750 with astralites and a metmacheck 'arm than the latest and greatest Yam offering?
Since coming back from my most recent episode of backpacking 2 years ago I've tried 'upgrading' my 98 R1 to more up-to-date stuff on two occasions now (GSXR1000K8 and 4C8 R1) and both have been fairly swiftly sold on and the old R1 lives on - both the newer bikes have been way faster, handled better & stopped quicker etc but provider nowhere near the same kick hunting down ZX10's, Panigales and D16RR's.

Possible Mojo loss is a terrible thing John. Whilst I admire the recent upgrade to the R1-M I can't help feeling it's the final hurrah - like an old geeza buying a brand new Dacia Sandero or something similar

Great tip but not good for the track day mojo

So you get a trackday for £50, but you have to spend £300 on a set of tyres you might not like, and then won't be able to buy for £300 again as they're only subsidised for those days ?
I understand where you are coming from ... but I needed new tyres and fancied trying the new Michelin RS tyres. As a bonus I got a TD for £49 at Oulton Park in the middle of summer which is usually nearly £200.That's called a win-win in my book. New tyres that cost me £230 (regardless of whether I went for Metzler / Pirelli / Michelin) and a very cheap TD.
IIRC they have five different days on ... nothing to stop you booking each one.

It's good marketing from them too, and I'm sure it'll bring lots of people to the brand.
I've never tried the dry tyres, but I've had the wets and they were really very good. Much better then the Pirellis and bridgestone wets I'd had previously.

It's a good deal if you're trying the tyres or want Michelins.

Annoyingly, wets don't come in 120/70 + 200 and only come as 12/60 R17, 19/69 R17, so it looks like I'll be stuck with dry tyres (I'm still going to take my metzeler wets in case it rains). It's good marketing from them too, and I'm sure it'll bring lots of people to the brand.

As said, you do need to buy Michelins but if you need new tyres/don't have a problem with trying a set it's a bargain. I'm very interested to see how the tyres are and enjoy a "cheap" day

What size do you normally run in dry? That size is what I have on my Mich wets. Im pretty sure it equates to about a 190 rear. Fits my K1 and K6 GSXR750 just fineAs said, you do need to buy Michelins but if you need new tyres/don't have a problem with trying a set it's a bargain. I usually run 120/70 and 200 rear. I assumed a 120/60 would be too small for the front and only the rear would fit? Given how good Michelin's pilot roads are in the wet, I'll probably love their wets.
I don't think there's any rolling radius difference between a michelin wet in 120/60 and a Bridgestone or Pirelli Slick in 120/70, or if there is, it's so small, it's largely immeasurable.Possibly something to do with the shape of the tyre carcass
