Too soon?
Good to see you guys today, and hope the weather improved after I left around 11:30 ?
Two sessions and 3 (maybe 4) red flags (one caused by a certain notorious ex PH'er) in Fast, plus the fact it was so cold I couldn't feel my fingers, so sacked it off after the second session to beat the motorway traffic home

The weather did improve and I got some dry sessions in. Decided to skip the last session though as it started raining again. I had a great day, the GSXR was great, much easier to ride than my Thunderace! The Smallboys lot are great couldn't have asked for more from them, I'll definitely use them again! Two sessions and 3 (maybe 4) red flags (one caused by a certain notorious ex PH'er) in Fast, plus the fact it was so cold I couldn't feel my fingers, so sacked it off after the second session to beat the motorway traffic home
Sorry Graeme, we did speak today but I didn't realise it was you until you were going home!

I can't recommend Matt at Smallboy enough. The bike's are good and the service is topnotch
That was awesome fun : ...
Two wet sessions (ste), one damp and two dry .... of course because it was my first visit and pissing down with rain I decided to drop down a group after the first session as everyone was on wet tyres. So relaxed and just got to know the circuit. The dry sessions just turned into an overtaking mission which although poor form gave me a giggle. Good practise though as I've always been st at overtaking people on track.
Good to catch up with Tom who haven't seen for ages and Simon (crasher) and Graham.

I think I saw you well someone on a blade got a going down the A556 when I was on my way home from work. You must of had some better weather than I did at work it didn't stop throwing it down all day. Pictures are up already which is fast! Got a few that I like, the first one round druids was so slow due to the amount of dressing they put over the various fluids spread all the way around the corner but at least it shows my body position is getting better.
Cracking shot that... A few of me up there ... which show my poor upper body positioning but given first visit to Oulton and it was barely 6 degrees and wet with dressing everywhere in the afternoon I shouldn't be so critical... I had fun and kept the bike upright which is the main thing.
(yes I've bought the photo before anyone starts)
It was definitely a day where keeping the bike upright was just an achievement. I've watched some of my videos and even on the drying track I was at least 20 seconds a lap slower than my last visit due to the wet/oil all around the track/getting used to being on track again. I've never seen so much oil, in the last session of the morning there was a rainbow stripe literally all the way around the track. In the afternoon is wasn't as bad but they'd covered a lot of the oil so that meant taking weird lines and tip toeing round corners. Druids was covered all the way around, the entry and exit of lodge was covered, hizzys chicane was too.
Still I had a great time and I'm now thinking of ways to try and do more track days this year.

Agreed. Never seen so much oil on a track ... but given all the crashers its not surprising. Lots of red flags in inters group ... one session I did three laps then had to go back into the pits again. It did seem to improve as the day went on mind.Still I had a great time and I'm now thinking of ways to try and do more track days this year.
I had one guy that decided to brake later than me into hizzys chicane and went grass tracking ... I nearly followed him ... amazing how seeing that happen affects your concentration and before you know it your doing the same thing!
All good fun.
I'm looking at 24th May Tom... get on it! I've got the Oulton bug.

As discussed Tom ( and I enjoyed seeing you and chatting again ), the tone for the day was set with us seeing the red flag/lights on on the first sighting lap of the first group out, Intermediates....Still I had a great time and I'm now thinking of ways to try and do more track days this year.
Next out, ourselves in Fast/Advanced group ... sighting laps behind the instructor of the day who had done the briefing and, half a lap in at Hizzies and he tucks the front and goes down , so back in we come.....replacement Instructor finishes the sighting laps and we get two more laps before the next red....
Out in the second session and a quarter lap in approaching Shell, reds again...back in and two and a half laps to end of session...
Third session, last pre-lunch , still totally wet but threatening to maybe dry up over lunchtime, having gone out a minute or so behind the rest of group, one full clear session, just starting to get on the back of a group up ahead towards the end but having made the effort and finding that my ten year old thinning wets were being challenged somewhat, parked it up , intact and satisfied that , I no longer can be bothered with the full wet thing, multiple wheel changes etc as I couldn't be bothered to change to drys for the afternoon.
A tactical decision with my travelling partner had been made, eased by the fact he was the reason for the red flag in the second session ....and so, box trailer parked up at home by 2pm , pub by 3pm for a few hours.....a day off work and an early night.
It was good to see Scott, Tom, Loon, meet Graeme and catch up with a few others since a good while, but not a great first trackday of the year where nobody was going quickly and no real riding of any sort was being achieved......
On with the offroading this weekend !
