Yeah my new set of Corsa SPs just came and they have much deeper groves than I remembered smile how long until the canvas would come through on the old one do you think

Latest V4 SPs are much better in design I think

I'm using V2s on my tuono - 1000 miles and I'm near enough on wear markers on left side from fast pace road riding

Couldn't comment for track use. I'd barely get a day out of the road going version

Visited Darley Moor today. Not somewhere I’d normally bother with, but after being beset with health issues and accidents earlier in the year I wanted to try and get a few days in this month & I always prefer a TD at the end of the week.

Given how simple it looks and a distinct lack of run-off I really didn’t expect much, especially after dropping the bike whilst faffing with my stands.

The lack of polish and glitz was quite charming though, the marshals and instructors all seemed really nice and I soon warmed to the track, unfortunately having to sod-off early due to a lack of front brake(s).

Definitely worth another visit or three I reckon.

Used wets today for the first time, got half a lap in before a red flag. Subsequent sessions proved too dry for them, though a couple would’ve been viable with the RA2s fitted to my other wheels, however I CBA changing again as it kept drizzling and looked like it might rain properly at any moment.

Bit of a frustrating day and subsequently I’m seriously considering fitting something like a Road 6 to the spare wheels.

I had my first euro trackday at spa last weekend, it's a great track and just such a cool place to be as a Motorsport fan. The first day was wet, the rain started on the walk to the briefing and stopped for the first session but was on and off all day, I was on Corsa SPs and some sessions were ok but if you were out when it rained it wasn't very fun. Fagne in particular felt horribly greasy and I had no confidence to push on. When there was a dry line I could push harder but the first day was more about learning the track and enjoying being on such a famous circuit. The second day was dry and I was able to push harder and enjoy a great track. Pouhon was my favourite corner it sucks you in to fly round but ea rouge was a big challenge with the blind apex and the hill scrubbing speed meaning it felt like you could much faster after the fact. I was thinking how smooth the sessions were running but we missed a whole session the second day as they shut the track waiting for the air ambulance to arrive for a crash which was a bit sobering. One thing I hadn't realised was that the day ended at 6 which made catching the ferry back a bit tight but I got away with it.

We're out there this week, on track Friday and Saturday and fingers crossed we get the weather that is currently forecast!

Any useful insights for the track and just the place/set-up generally gratefully received.

Portimão should reignite the love!!

Until we go to Spa tomorrow, it'll be the only other Euro I've done (3 times) and I'd gladly do it again next year...and the next...and etc.

Stating the obvious maybe, but possibly a ‘medium’ bike might help?

I was thinking more something that’ll go >16,000, but if you want a go on my 750 I’ll be at Brands on 25/9.

I can't advise on set ups I'm afraid, I'm not on that level. Micheal Neeves had just done a bit about it on his YouTube channel. Said every corner is faster than you think and I'd agree with that. If its wet be careful on the fagne section as mentioned, although maybe that was day specific. If the tyre man is the same they didn't have a card machine so take cash, there's a petrol station down the road you can get cashback from though.

And get on the service roads around the track between sessions, I rode my bike around them and with the elevation changes you get great views of the whole circuit.

Something to be said about that with the 'medium bike' comment. I've had more fun on my 250 this year than my GSXR but only when I was with other similar powered bikes or 2 strokes. I did one at Doni in advanced and riding the 250 against a classic ducati 999 with its completely different braking points was a little frustrating

Do like the GSXR but getting the most out of 50-60hp is fine. I'll see how I feel after this weekend

Really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere here although it was rammed

The 250 was a little underpowered in advanced group with bigger bikes proper throwing me off line or entry speed at times

Good fun though

Loving those videos, really making the little bike sing and making good progress too

Not directly TD related but would appreciate any comments to my question.

I’ve got a very lightly used but slightly cold torn rear Sportsmart TT. It’s about 1” on the left shoulder.

Would it clean up in road use OK do you think?

I’d have no clue, but stick a photo up and someone wiser than me should be able to advise.

I have used lots of torn tyres from track on the road over the years with no problems, takes a little while to clean up.

Thanks for that. Will take it easy on the affected side for a bit.
