New tyre bed in period?
Discussion
Ive been through 3 Metzeler marathons on the road in the last 3 years and each time its a bit slippy coming out of the bike shop junction, but by the time ive gone the long way home, in the dry, about 30 miles seems to do the trick
100 miles seems way excessive to me, I thought the tyre companies stopped using that slippy release compound stuff years ago ?

I heard that rumour too but the chaps where I have my tyres fitted (Churchills in Pottersbury) have a handful of offs a year within a few metres of their shop from riders not being quite cautious enough pulling away from their premises.
They advise a period of 50miles, with no hard braking/accleration and building up the lean angle gradually, ive always done something similar throughout my riding "career".

I accelerate amd brake hard in as trai get line to get some heat into it then go for it. This is especially the case on track where I expect to have it scrubbed to the edge within a lap. ... And make sure you don't buy techspec grips or Michelin power 3 Tyres else you won't hear the last of it.

its always slippy coming out of the bike shop, the first couple of junctions it might step out a bit on the throttle, after that seems fine...this is on road biased tyres, nothing fancy, just ME880s.
if its wet im a bit more wary on the roundabouts of course....

yeah, same here, if its dry, I hope to have got all the way to the edge scrubbed in by the time I get home ...normal routine for bedding in new tyres, theres a couple of A road roundabouts on the trip home that help

Nope. Only scrubbed to the edge on track. No need to get anywhere near that on the roadits always slippy coming out of the bike shop, the first couple of junctions it might step out a bit on the throttle, after that seems fine...this is on road biased tyres, nothing fancy, just ME880s.
