Insurers - How bad can they be..
Discussion
Always say it'll never happen to me with crappy insurers but just had the worst service imaginable with a company that I've seen people say stay away from lol :'(
Much Crap Ensued when I was called after I had signed up to a policy online and offered an extra to the package I wanted.
I added this extra then was sent new documents via email with a receipt saying amount paid blah blah.. 9 months later I get a call saying they had forgot to add it to my policy and I had to pay it now. I send email with proof to an email address they gave me and they say they will call back.. Email address they gave me was wrong and they never called back.
Anyway I received countless letters and made many calls, sent many emails and was told I would be called back and never was, they never answered any emails and it got to the stage where they cancelled my insurance and said they were giving my "debt" to debt collectors!
I think they must just hire people to mug you off on the phone, I was just trying to find out if what I had was proof of payment or whether I actually had to pay but they were so incompetent its unbelievable. Not even going into whether their mistake not adding it to my policy is my problem..
massive s.
I am now down 1 years no claims on first bike.
anyway little rant probably all my fault.....

Had the nightmare with MCE and learnt my lesson... fked them over royally as well thanks to Loon
It's not so much the company name but more who the policy is underwritten by... I've had great experiences with Highways which is part of Liverpool Victoria so both the cars and bikes are insured with them.
MCE are cheap for a reason.

So, who would you recommend us to use ?
I've always insured with Bennetts and never had a problem, mind you I've never had a claim. They always take my money on the day they say they're going to !
I don't advise who to use, as that's too subjective. What I donis base advice on who not to use on experience of bad service. The broker the OP uses is bad as they also have delegated claims handling so deal with all claims themselves. They aren't good

Carole Nash for me, always cheapest for my selection of rusty old heaps. Plus they have a rep for good service & I know the free breakdown cover is good as I've used it a few times.
Same here. Been with them for 3 years on the trot now. And every year they discount the price of my renewal quote.Biker's Nemesis said:

Anyone who is insuring with MCE, value your bike above the market rate.
I stuck in a value just off the top of my head when they asked for estimated value, and that's all they were willing to pay out when I had a crash.
There excess is also fking ridiculous.

Doesn't always work like that as OCD will testify. I had all sorts of fun with them about their valuation of his R1Anyone who is insuring with MCE, value your bike above the market rate.

What was the script with that. In the end I was incredibly lucky. I got to keep my 675 for nothing from the other party. Is this more common when dealing with a car insurer as they don't have the expertise to sell on a cat c or d bike. Or can't they be arsed.

I'm not interested in defending insurers but it gets my goat when people start moaning about things THEY CHOSE to accept into their policy.

Your last point doesn't make sense, you will have known the xcess before you insured it, you can't hang that on them, if you wanted a lower excess you'd have got a higher premium, you pays your money and all that but don't whinge about something that YOU decided on.

At the time of my policy I got one with insurance protection or something. I'm not interested in defending insurers but it gets my goat when people start moaning about things THEY CHOSE to accept into their policy.
Yes your correct, one cannot moan about that because they know it when they sign up. But one can point it out. all I said is their excess is ridiculous, I didn't suddenly crash and go oh look at my fking excess s. many are at least 1k. that is ridiculous I cant point that out surely.
I gets on my goat when people start putting words in my mouth.
