popped into dealer mates yesterday, still no chance of a test ride though at least he has a bike in the showroom . wiggle between the legs test it feels a load lighter than the old fat one. may just be weight distribution ,it is certainly a lot taller ,as this shortarse was on tip toes to touch both feet down.
not so keen on the red and white colour scheme, think the blue looks great and overall a far better looking bike than the old one, imo.
What's with the no test ride situation? not so keen on the red and white colour scheme, think the blue looks great and overall a far better looking bike than the old one, imo.

Dealer told me the first three allocation batches have sold out with all of those bought either unseen or just sat on at the shows. So with such a massive demand their struggling to even match it so no bikes left over for dealers yet.He said if I wanted to buy one it'd be lucky to get in for the next batch in August most likely next january.

Was he giggling when he told you that? I know of two bikes for sale right now the only problem being that their offer for mine is a little low. There are also a whole load coming in June which will be available and are not currently allocated.
Just saying what he told me. I'm not looking to buy anyway it was just a conversation I had with them whilst my mate bought a different bike.bogie said:

R1M is the one to go for though isn't it - carbon, ohlins, GPS etc for 2k?
I read in one of the magazines all the UK allocation of R1M are sold out already, so be prepared to pay a premium if you can find someone to part with oneTim85 said:

I was also surprised by the seat height. On my GSXR1000K6 I can get two feet flat on the ground, my KTM525EXC the ball of one foot, on the R1 pretty much just the toes of one foot. To be fair there was no sag in the suspension as I sat on it but even with a few centimetres of sag my arse would still be knitting buttons leaving Rykers car park.In terms of looks it actually looked a lot better in real life than in the pictures.
Some on the R1 group are getting prices of $15,000 (or less) for the non M version in the US, on the road. Surely once the hype has died down, there would be some discount available.

Had a look at one today after meeting up with Tight5.
Far better looking 'in the flesh' but still no oil painting - some very fussy looking features from exhaust valve cable routing to big gaps under pillion seat area and a strange silver coloured paint on the engine (reminds me of old die cast toys from decades ago once the paint had flaked off...)
Tall seat (not quite as tall as the RSV4) and VERY firm damping - I'm not the lightest of riders and there was barely any perceivable sag.
Cool clocks and narrow bars.
Got demo rides on an S1000 and RSV4 before choosing them bit that's going to be difficult on the R1 - I need Tight to buy one and give me a go before final judgement
Oh, disc carriers on the red version - NO!
Almost as chavvy as the wheel rim stickers and slightly tacky decals.
