I'm off next week so I'll pop up to Bells and have a look at the R1 in the flesh ( I'll text you of you want to meet up?)
Yeah, shifts allowing.

I'm not sure I'd give up your R1 for the Duc - I thought you meant 'in addition to' rather than 'instead of' but I'm sure a lengthy test ride will answer your questions.
Yes, but I'm getting a good deal on the R1 !
wink

I'm waiting for the release of the 2015 RSV4 before doing anything - I love the handling but fear they may have sacrificed midrange chasing top end power.
Hope to see that ( maybe even have a go of that one biggrin )

The black looks good but I think that's a us colour option only although may be wrong.
I think so, certainly not a UK option.

popped into dealer mates yesterday, still no chance of a test ride though at least he has a bike in the showroom . wiggle between the legs test it feels a load lighter than the old fat one. may just be weight distribution ,it is certainly a lot taller ,as this shortarse was on tip toes to touch both feet down.
not so keen on the red and white colour scheme, think the blue looks great and overall a far better looking bike than the old one, imo.

Just tried to get an online insurance quote for a new R1 and its £1298. Using the same details a 1299 panigale is £623 and a s1000rr even less.

I guess until Insurers know or understand the costs of repair on a brand new model, they're going to load it through the roof to cover their arses?

Insurance no doubt high because there will be orders for them over here in China. Stolen to order that is as they aren't officially sold here so they will be imported by dubious means.

My HP4 was almost uninsurable when I first got it. The only insurance company who would touch it were BMWs white labelled Devitt product. Devitt themselves wouldn't touch it. Tot al cost was £1450. This year it's £231.

was initially put off my how ugly this was.... then I realised I have a S1K anyway so what am I moaning about.... am now thinking its time for some new metal !

Quick question - how do we rate our chances of finding/buying someones R1M allocation - or getting a second hand one that we I can trust ? may as well spank 18k rather 15k and get the full monty.... will serve me well on my rainy commute into london.

Local dealer reckons they are gonna make more R1Ms.

It is if you can cover the cost of it. Not much use for those on the commute though.

I read in one of the magazines all the UK allocation of R1M are sold out already, so be prepared to pay a premium if you can find someone to part with one

Bah!

Details!

Less than a grand will get you Brembo serie Oro discs, great pads and three years worth of fluid - most will spend that on an offensive exhaust and tacky levers and rear sets.

£15,000 for the council-spec looks really expensive but, thinking back, I paid £10,000 for a T'ace 18 years ago...
