Last weekend, Sunday evening I also decided to go for a run to Finchingfield. Unusually, I hardly encounter much traffic at all - absolutley fine with me! There was a lovely Volvo P1800 going the other way but nothing else of note. I start to head home and get another good run. Just as Im getting to the end of the countryside something old comes round the corner. It's not hanging about, so takes me a sec to clock that it is a Jaguar SS100. Hang on, what's that following it? It's a bloody C Type! I get a fleeting glance at both but now have a huge smile on my face. As per the F40, proper exotica caught in the wild being usrd as it should is a genuine joy.

Think f40xxx is on here, saw it at a car show last year or year before and it came with the Kent and essex lot after a run

I've seen him a few times. I think he lives in the big gaff up the hill, on the right to your other Finchingfield photo. It does sound fantastic.

I remember the first time I saw an F40 being used on the road. I had just joined the M40 and happened to glance in my rear view. What was coming down the slip road about 200 yds behind; you guessed it, an F40. It came up behind, moved slowly out to overtake then........gone.

It certainly is an experience to see! Nice one OP.

Hello OP, that was me you saw. Glad you enjoyed it. Only just got the car back after having a fair bit of work done so was bit of shake down run. Was good to open it up a bit on the bypass, not full beans although not far off! Funny what you say about the smell following the F40, a mate following me on a long trip once in a Caterham was not so impressed!

Few years back driving a Gt3 up the Col de Izard came up against an Italian riding a Ducati chased him for a bit then he waved me passed he chased me up the mountain. We both pulled into the cafe shook hands and admired each other s machines. The noise was epic from both car and bike. Driving heaven.

A while back I came down the slip road from Bromley & was heading to Brands to meet some mates when I caught sight of a guy riding a Ducati but couldn't really make it out & he was moving so I upped my pace and realised it was a Desmosedici, I followed for a bit getting closer just reveling in the noise of the thing (it's the first & last one I've seen riding) I'd missed my turning but thought it was worth trying to goad him into giving it a bit. As we rolled through the Dartford Toll!! he started to (pre average cameras) wind it up, when he got to the tunnel he gave it full beans what a noise then it was on all the way to the Waltham Abbey (I had no fuel) turn off at speeds which would make the papers, my poor ZX10R was getting hell & I couldn't stop smiling he carried on but that was a great moment, I limped to the garage filled up & made my way back to Brands, it still puts a smile to my face.

Went for a weekend trip to L.A for my 21st. Ordered a convertible rental car and was handed the most glorious metallic red Camaro SS 6.2 V8 vert! Took it down Angeles Crest Highway the following morning which was the most memorable experience I've had behind the wheel! Allegedly layed down a few black circles on a layby in honour of the V8 gods.....they weren't my Pirelli's after all! ;-)

Last April I proposed to my (now) wife. As a surprise I'd booked a few days away in the Lake District to mark the occasion and as riotous good fun as it was driving those fantastic roads in my Fiesta ST, it was nothing like the other surprise I had in store. I'd hired a Lotus Elise Sports Racer for a day, it's a car that I've loved for a looooooooong time.

I've never enjoyed myself as much as I did driving that wonderful, superb car. The roads that I'd enjoyed in the Fez took on a whole new meaning in the Elise and I felt such a deep connection with it. I've always wanted one before, now I need one. One of the few times that meeting your heroes doesn't lead to disappointment!

We drove those roads for hours in the beautiful sunshine. Unfortunately Steve at Lotus A-Lease didn't want to sell it to me. But I will have one, oh yes. A moment of pure Nirvana in that car, on those roads. And the best bit was there was no phone signal up there so no-one could bother us!!

F40 related - would've been at least 20 years ago; heading back from Redditch to Birmingham in my dad's van, when I saw a black F40 heading towards us and then pull into a petrol station. I went batsh*t. The F40 is my favourite all-time car, seeing one on the road back then was too much, seeing one in black was too much for me to comprehend!

More personal to me - taking my Clio V6 on track for the first time at Goodwood last year. Finally really pushing the car without too much fear of making an expensive mistake!

Last Summer, early morning, A93-A939. After leaving Blairgowrie I was at Tomintoul before anything held me up. 20 degrees at 8am in Grantown-on-Spey, perfect day for it.

A favourite road of mine, though I'm usually coming from the Aberdeen or Kincardineshire side. Best enjoyed early in the morning, last time I drove it was October last year, left the house at 5.30am and didn't pass another car until I got to the A9 at Carrbridge having enjoyed some of the best scenery the country can offer

This evening actually, just getting to grips with the new to me FN2. Road between thorner and bramham on the outskirts of Leeds. Had someone in something much faster behind me keeping a respectable distance and all was well in the world
