Bloody hell that looks absolutely stunning! Shall have to see where my closest dealer is.
One of the best looking bikes released in the past couple of years imho.
As said, quality is superb. I'm very much in love with their Victory lineup but the prices are quite high compared to the Scout.

I was in our local Aprilia dealer taking mine in for its MOT the other day and the owner urged me to have a sit on the Indian Scout (since they are also Indian dealers) and guess the weight. I would have guessed at about 160kg! It felt like a 125, turns out its 255kg but the packaging is so clever it feels superlight. They are about £8k new and beautifully built. Consider one of these as a similar cost to the Yamaha. Indian is owned by Polaris as is Victory, quality is superb.

Says 10 and a half on their site.

My dad has lost a few friends through bike incidents. I've lost a few friends through bike incidents.

Everyone I know who rides has a freind they deeply miss because of a riding incident.

All this being said, I've lost family members to suicide, cancer, stroke, old age. Hell, my dad was given 10 months to live if he didnt have a heart op.

My point is, life is the longest thing you'll ever do. Fill it with things you want to experience and want to enjoy. Do your CBT and get a small bike and develop your riding skills and your roadcraft...and your road-sense. Equip yourself with the best safety gear and learn to keep your bike(s) well maintained, or find someone who can.

Motorcycling doesnt have to always be done at full throttle and 3-figure speeds. You can just plod along and enjoy it in a myriad of other ways (I do).

Oh, and for what it's worth, I've had a car do a U-turn on me, I've had a lorry nudge me off at traffic lights and I've had a pedestrian run out in front of me. I bruised a testicle and that was it!

Funnily enough I went on the site after and saw that too Scott, but the owner definately told me £8.?k

It was only just in so maybe official price announcement hadn't been made or maybe they are having an introductory price or something with it being a new model. I'd be suprised if he got it wrong and I didn't miss hear him...Pretty sure the other guy said the same.

Hmmm. Nice nonetheless, I've signed up for the open day in May to try this and the Victory 8ball jobbie!

I definitely plan on plodding! I don't really fancy ragging the st out of it, hence why I'm after a cruiser. I kind of prefer the experience the offer as opposed to a sports bike. Then again I do have a bloody fast car for the 'fun times'.

I think you know the answer to that is none! So I can already guess your reply. I've been on the back of both (yes I know It's not the same) but I just felt the cruiser to be more relaxing in general. Although not as nimble. Aesthetically I prefer cruisers too.

Try both before being dismissive.

I tried an 883 Iron and I felt like the vibrations dislocated my wrist.

Sure, I will do. Doesn't make sense to write them off entirely so I know what you mean. I kind of like the Yamaha MT 09 too.

But you're right, once the tests are done it makes sense to try out some entirely different bikes just incase.

Up to you OP. The thing with bikes is nearly everyone I know who rides had had a fairly serious accident at some point, this isn't case with car drivers.

I'd try some sports naked bikes too, like the MT-09, Suzuki GSR, Monster. Might find you like the more relaxed riding style. Doesn't have to be a cruiser just because you don't want to go fast on a sports bike.

I think most of us have some experience of this.

I don't know anyone who has died however a while back my best friend had a an accident on return from Cardington and passing his course to be a fully qualified instructor. He was taken out by a women pulling a U-turn outside a school and broke his back. He's now an examiner so it hasn't stopped him.

My Brother and his wife had an accident where her own dad ran into the back of them, his crash bung broke both bones in her lower leg. You are exposed more on a bike so this can happen, as a result they both sold up their bikes and don't ride.

My mum made my dad give up biking when I was born. I understand this there is a lot more to think of than just yourself but that said he's not back on the bike after i donated him my first bike.

I used to ride a ZX6r and found myself always over the speed limit with the feel of the bike egging you to go faster and faster! I dont want to ride particularly fast, I have chicken strips on my tyres and no interest in a track day. I now ride a Harley Davidson XR1200 which I chose to best suit what i wanted to get from biking, which is fun at legal speeds carrying the girlfriend as pillion.

Think you need to decide what it is you want from biking, if its community, pleasant ride through the countryside then go for it. If you're chasing that adrenaline buzz then consider getting back on track!

First time around I was most definately in the sports bike camp.

Upon my rebirth, I suprised myself how my taste had changed, I now have a naked street fighter Tuono gen1 and an adventure tourer (Both V-twin Aprilias)! I'm pretty open minded about most genre's of bikes. Would be nice to have one for all occasions lol!

How about something like a Bonneville/Thruxton/V7

They are:
  • Not too expensive
  • Not too heavy
  • Not too fast
  • Look very cool

I've been a sucker for it for ages. Fit and finish is also better than on the Triumph. As soon as I got my new garage ready...

The V7 Cafe Racer is a nice little number that I've admired a couple of times in the showroom...I'm not totally sold on Guzzi reliability though. Was chatting to an owner of a new one (not a V7)while getting my MOT and he was moaning about the number of return visits and issues he'd had with a new bike!

I could quite easily fancy the Bonny scrambler too!!

Yeh I'm 26. Not married and we don't plan to be (we both don't really believe in it). I guess I just hate upsetting people or thinking they're worried about me all the time. At the same time, there's been hobbies he's done which have taken up loads of time....I expressed negativity but never said to stop it as I knew he wouldn't. Admittedly these hobbies aren't as dangerous.

He's a worrier and I would worry too if he got a bike. HOWEVER, hand on my heart I'd say "Look after yourself, don't drive like a dick & do what makes you happy." Relationships are important but at the end of the day a strong one is where you let each other follow a life path they want to take. Whatever that may be.

I'm not asking to do the bloody Isle of Man TT!
