I started a thread about a potential new bike purchase (ST 1300 still winning!) and now want to get a pair of textiles to go with my leathers.

Ride has pushed out a guide this month detailing kit but I wanted to know if anybody has any ideas?

Budget circa £200 but I can flex. I am pretty standard size (6' with 32" waist and 34" legs) so off the peg tends to work.

Spada, Buffalo and Weise seem to have some bits in budget but it seems that a matching jacket and jeans is harder to come by.

Any advice / links?

I bought RST Blade textiles, Jacket and Jeans matching for £249 from sportsbike shop. Jackets has shoulder and elbow armour and a back protector, textile jeans have knee protectors.

Various colours available http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/c...

RST

Rain straight through.

Depends on your usage I guess. I wouldn't buy their textiles again.

My Richa Rix 2 kit was very good through winter although I wore an additional 2 piece Richa rain suit on top in the worst rain.
All in it cost me less than £250 and comes with CE armour including back.

Wouldn't touch Richa, my old gear soaked up water almost as fast as a good sponge.
My old Weise trousers were cheap and felt it.
My friends Spada boots fell apart prettt quickly.

Imo if you don't want to spend lots then buy secondhand good quality gear.

I recently got Alpinestar goretex gear with thermal liners for £140.

Anyone any experience of the Merlin brand? (http://www.merlinbikegear.com/)

I only ask as their Merlin Aragon boots get a very good write up.

I'm a fan of merlin stuff and not just because I sell it at work.

When I started I thought it was just your usual cheap st that doesn't last. It seems to be pretty good so far, we don't seem to get any back and it's really cheap. The Hydro suit is £100 for jacket and trousers with armour and removable thermal liner. To get something similar from anyone else in our shop and it's twice as much.

I've bought some of their street boots for commuting and they're pretty good and don't leak.

I hate spada, it's terrible and always comes back broken/leaky. Weise is alright but not amazing. A bit hit and miss really.

If you weren't so far away I'd have recommended the outlet at clay cross motorcycles.

Racks of textiles and were doing RST Kevlar jeans at £80 for 2 pairs.

could easy get a high quality full Spidi textile outfit for 300 quid off of one off the italian / spanish websites - dont know why people are suggesting cheap and nasty gear for 200 quid range.

Might also be worth keeping an eye out on the triumph factory outlet website, I bought one of their textile suits for well under your budget and they seem to be well made & waterproof.

Have you had those wax jackets in - the Sandon? If so, what is the general opinion?

OP, I think Furygan is well-made, and not too expensive, but it's hard to find. Some places have the odd thing.
We have got the Sandon and the Armitage. Not my cup of tea but they are popular. We've sold quite a few of them and the people that bought them seem to be very happy.
