Going to start looking at getting quotes for a paintjob on the Honda VRX400 (see the restoration thread). I'm bouncing between three colours ... I think I've made my mind up (and ultimately I know the reply here is going to be "whatever colour YOU want") but as an exercise in interest I'm curious what colour the collective would choose.

Options are :
1. The original metallic blue. Slightly bland, but it keeps the bike original (like the rest of it).
2. A burnt orange colour, my favourite colour.
3. A metallic purple colour, my wife's (a biker) favourite colour.

I've given you examples of the three I have in mind below (if anyone is feeling clever with paint shop, feel free ! that would really help ...)

I'm not planning on selling the bike once complete.

Vote away !

if you have no plans to sell then the only colour that makes any sense is.......whatever colour you want.
who cares what other people like?

two ways of looking at this.
one is paint it in the way you want as its your bike and only you have to like it.
second is that its a st bike and no matter what colour you paint a st its still a st bike.
if it was rare or had some historic value then maybe some thought might be required.
paint it and enjoy it then get rid when you are bored with it.

What colours did these bikes originally come in, besides the dark blue?

Orange for me I think. In that colour, it would need a loud set of cans, that's just how it is.

British racing green.

There isn't enough, British racing green in the world.

My dad had a V40 in that colour many moons ago and I loved it.

I'm with you on the burnt orange, but if you want to keep it a proper VRX400 colour I think the red looks the best out of the three. IMO

Oh completely agree with you on that one smile I'll be looking into how I can 'empty' the standard cans (possibly) ... it can't be quiet, either way.

I think you should perhaps take some inspiration from this advert?

I like the red. Similar to the orange in that you have the contrast of colours, but keeps it original spec, like everything else you've done.

Tempted by the red?!
It's a nice burnt darkish shade.
