Hopefully it becomes a production version, at least it would make the horrible exhaust note of the petrol versions a thing of the past.

I ride an old 81' shovel - it's all about the noise and the feel of the bike having a life of its own, can't see this appealing to many existing riders.
Some like the noise, some don't. I like my bikes quiet and refined, I can't stand noisy exhausts.

Also, biking has always been about the feeling of freedom it gives, with such a short range that's gone too.
OK, now that I can go along with. Although I can't remember the last time I rode my bike over 50 miles, on occasions I have taken it on long adventures... maybe Harley could let owners swap it for a petrol model for a few weeks a year?

As for traction control comments: I rode an electric motocross bike once, and although it was only about 20bhp, it nearly had me off exiting a low-speed corner because the torque is right there at any revs and speed. A normal IC engine is gutless until it has built up some revs, the electric motors can catch you out when you use them for the first time, although you do quickly get used to the power delivery.
