Some may remember the competition Bike Sure ran, “no, what are you on about” I hear you cry. Basically, Bikesure ran a prize draw of a free track day with MSVT, all you had to do was get a quote and mentioned you were a member on here, whilst getting some possible discount. Needless to say I had to spell Moanthebairns to the English call staff employee. After a month your names were entered into a tombola, I’m assuming a tombola as that sounds more fancy, I’m guessing it was cut up bits of paper into a hat or heated balls. (SEE TOP THREADS).

Anyhoo, I won, yes I know, I can’t believe it as well, a total fix I hear you cry, not half, get in. I got a call from them today saying I’d won and I can pick a track day for free.

So Bikesure were not only the cheapest BY MILES for my multibike insurance this year, again. They gave me a free track day, and a £20 voucher for getting cut off 3 times whilst having helpful and cheery staff on hand in the UK. I know its arse kissing isn’t it, but id sell my soul for a fiver. And to be honest, if you thought any less of me for doing so id expect more from yourself.

So I shall be booking up in the next week or so, probably Donnie or Oulton. And I’ll post a wee report. Its not up there with Tim85 winning an R1 but it shows people do win these draws, even if they use heated balls.

Expect my normal track day report/fiasco with loads of pictures.

Congratulations!

I assume you have cheered up a bit with this news, after your thread this morning. Seems a bit coincidental. Are you sure you don't have some "mates" capable of winding you up with a fake call? wink I know that sounds cynical but I wouldn't put it past some of my so-called friends!

Look forward to seeing the pictures and story.

Is it possible that they saw your comments on the insurance sticky threads and picked you out deliberately so you would post such a glowing endorsement of them?

Oh, and congratulations, Mr. Bikesure Shill wink
I don't think you'd need to be Bergerac to get to the bottom of that one. laugh

I'm thinking of selling space on the fairings for Bikesure Stickers. idea I'll do it for a £20 love to shop voucher.

I know there is a few threads going, but I owe it to Bikesure to link a wee report here seeing as they were good enough to give me a free trackday.

As Mckeann mentioned elsewhere, he showed up on Sunday after deciding to take both of his bikes and trailer mines. He did ask if the hook up was the same, and I glanced at it and said, "yeah its the same". He mentioned getting picked up at 3:30 I had planned on getting to sleep at 10 but I just couldn't, by the time id watched a few family guys, had my midnight feast, it was almost 3 and I had slept an hour or two if I was lucky. I shoulda saved the F1 for bed time as I was falling asleep watching it earlier.

I remember driving the car to the garage to meet Neil and thinking, "thank fk i'm no driving i'm shattered, I cant wait for a kip". Sure enough, we found out it was the wrong hook up, mines was uk, his was European, this would have never happened if UKIP got in.

I did try to fit a 8 pin into a 12 like some sort of retarded moron, for some reason I thought this would work in my comatose state. It was probably priceless to watch. Neil's description mentioned elsewhere of a small child is very apt. I said sorry for my mistake, Neil turned into MR military, here's our options, lets think about what needs to happened, I remember thinking, "just decide its hurting to stand up i'm so tired".

Neil did decide as he was the driver, id be towing mines, I have to admit I was in half a mind to go home rather than drive down but I got a red bull or two from neil and hit the road. It wasn't too bad to be honest, at that time you just had to have a fag or open the window to keep you awake, mind you I cant really remember any of it. I did laugh when I saw "car share" on the electronic message boards

We got there and I wondered where everyone was.

I couldn't believe how empty it was. It was rather strange. I did think it was going to be quiet with it being £185 but not like this.

As Mckeann says, I went to sign on and I was greeted by the most miserable torn face cow you could come across. I've encountered her before at Oulton, she works for MSVT, and by Christ she has the people skills of a brick to the face. When she told me that I wasn't signed on, even after telling her all about me being a prize winner and showing her various emails on my phone I decided to go for a st. By the time I came out it was sorted.

After that I had to endure the most boring safety talk. We had a great one at knockhill, the guy was spot on, to the point and animated whilst being genuinely quite funny. You sort of listened, me and neil both said how good he was and its the same ste you hear everywhere. This guy was late, then droned on and on to the stage where I shut my eyes and could feel myself slowly drift away to that twitching stage before sleep, probably as your doing now as you read this. He was just backwards and forwards, loving the sound of his own voice, I felt like sticking the lack of adhesion flag right down his bding....Anyway

We got out on track after noise testing, just as well it was quiet, I think 8 were in my group, I managed to get 3 sighting laps in before getting called in. GREAT. I downed some energy drinks and sat my ass down for the long haul.

I slowly got more into it becoming more awake, before lunch I went out and hit traffic, yes one bike. One 899 that I just couldn't get pass, he'd hold me up in the corners then just pull too much away from the 675. I'd pull level coming out a corner, he'd see me, then his 899 just had the legs on me. It was getting really annoying, we had a track to ourselves and i'm stuck behind him. I did start to think he was wanting to "race" when coming out of the chicane over the hill I moved far right to do him on the brakes but he would stay far right blocking you before moving to the middle of the track for the next chicane.

Anyway I got pass, then it was time to come in.

At Lunch I tried to sleep, but I think I managed 5 minutes if i'm lucky.

bd, I never knew of this.

Loon and Mckeann giggled like school girls to each other, id try and join in the conversation, but I was so slow and behind it. Neil commented on there being a few 2 strokes there today, and I said, "the smell always reminds me of going to the BSB". They both burst out hysterically saying there was no 2 strokes in BSB. 5 minutes later I was like, hold on, interrupting their new conversation, there bloody is, the support races, "yeah but you said BSB", did I, no I never, maybe I did, I dunno, fk off.

After lunch I had a good play with the guy in my garage on an R1, it was great, he'd get away on the straights and then id get him at a few corners, he was quick at bits and likewise. It was brilliant well mannered fun, we both came in smiling laughing about how much fun it was and how we both had faith in each other, but near the end we did hit MR 899. Oh dear God not this again, we commented on it on the pits and we both were getting fked off with him throughout the day with the blocking, realising it wasn't just me I went and spoke to him after this. He assured me he wasn't doing it intentionally. We sorted it out and it was all nice and friendly after.

I got out in the last session and it was just brilliant, no one else on really, I think I got 8 laps of bliss. I love oulton its the best circuit ive been to. Up & down, slow, fast, such a range of corners. The only one I don't like is the first corner, i'm st at it, but from the long sweeping left down to shell though the chicanes and up the hill to the back of the circuit its utter bliss. I can see why Loon doesn't like many circuits, if that's on your doorstep why would you go elsewhere. Its really makes you realise how st Knockhill is, how they can charge the same is unthinkable. I got a 1m58 and was averaging about the 2 m - 02 mark, so not so bad. I could get away with moving up if there was no space in inters.

Anyway, I had a wee drive back up the road. It wasn't too bad, it was broken up with racing each other to see who would get home first. Even with my dozen pee stops and a Burger king I won, he was held up in Mcd's. It was better than the Monaco gp. One thing I need to sort is my bloody radio, for the vast majority all I had was bloody BBC 4. I sat listening to a story about a couple getting a divorce, at first I was drowning on about who the fk is sitting listening to this, really, after 50 miles its getting to the end of it, will they get divorced, wont they, it just bloody finished with a sort of, tune in tomorrow ending. WTF, I felt like smashing the radio, id went through all that. I reached for the only CD to perk me up on a day like this.

not a bad song in it.

There was no photographer as you might be able to tell with me plunging new depths to add to this report, but here's one of me before at oulton.

A big thank you to Bikesure for the prize, it was a great day out, even if I was shattered. It was genuinely quite special having most of the track to yourself and I enjoyed it immensely.
