How good / bad are the Chinese cowls ?

For what it's worth I bought a Chinese one and it colour matched really well. (Black r1) it felt secure and although it took a bit of gagging to fit perfectly it was fine and you'd never know it wasn't genuine.
My mate got one for his white and red r1 and it was miles off. I think it's because the white from Yamaha has a pearl in it and this didn't. So he had to go genuine
Also my first Chinese one was broken in the post and they didn't do anything about it.

All I thought was for the sake of 25 quid I'd try as padgetts said a genuine one was 180+vat and if it was ste I'd just accept I wasted 25 quid

I'd never thought about the colour, that's a fair point about it being pearl.

Probably better trying to get a red one then.
