In hindsight the advice I would give to my younger self, practicing on large roundabouts early Sunday morning is to think about how you will react when you DO touch down. The first few times it startled me and I would pick the bike up a bit, going off line...thankfully no other traffic to run into at that time...

If you do your practicing on the track or airfield around cones etc you will be safer and become more instinctive/natural more quickly. In the 80s trackdays were not common place, you either went proddy racing or found some quiet roads.

For me riding sportsbikes in my early 20's on the roads I never got enough months of practice in for knee down to become part of my natural style, it was always something I had to make an effort to do. 25 years later on after various accidents, a break from riding, and different bike styles, I'm just happy to still be riding a bike smile

I met the blonde from Prefab Sprout at a party in Jesmond once. I refused to believe her claim of being in the band because she kept insisting that the song was called King of Rock and Roll rather than Albequerque, which I knew to be its proper title for an absolute fact.

You would have thought that she could remember the only UK hit they really ever had....which one of you was the most intoxicated at the time ? wink

I just remember the frog, dancing hot dogs and wondered what they were on when they did the video...a catchy tune...just to keep it going around this afternoon smile

That would have been me.
She got the title right, as it turns out.

Yeah, tricky one. She was in the band. I checked someone else's record cover later on (not actually my cup of tea). Quite bonnie.

Oh and blame Mastodon2, not me - see his post on this very thread - he's the one, no wait, his friend's the one who has Prefab Sprout as his deffo-gonna-get-maknee-down-this-time Rocky music.

Don't try to turn this back on me Castex, I may have introduced Prefab Sprout to this thread but you're the one who met a member of the band, your cool stocks have gone up mate!

She lives in my in-law's street (or she did, they moved five minutes down the road a couple of months ago). She was at the street's centenary party, and I met her there. I have met her on quite a few occasions now, although until a couple of months ago I had never listened to Prefab Sprout.
