I have found the best places to practice are uphill fields, 2nd gear rolling, weight far back on the saddle, footcovering the back brake, then open the throttle quickly and up the front comes. Close the throttle and down she goes. repeat until you get some distance, and feel the balance point - then dab the back brake to push the front down.

Weirdly I find standing wheelies much easier, however I am in no way at a stage of wheelies of any decent length yet.

I like wheelie's, 2nd gear, pop the clutch then away you go, the gsxr runs out of steam at 110 or so, the 929 blade kept going till 125,

I have no pics apart from a screenshot from one of my gsxr onboard vids

I can't wheelie. Best I've done is probably after the dead slow hairpin at croft, pinning the throttle after yet another st line through.

I feel like I'd be more comfortable doing a standing one, purely from mountain bikes, but don't want to look like a tit standing up then wobbling off

It becomes quite addictive so TRY to be as responsible as you can.
That said, I find WOT in second and clutch works best.
Have to admit to being a tt and falling off trying it in first.

So you're firmly in the can't wheelie camp?

Definitely this ^^^ I remember having a conversation with someone who said you'll only want to wheelie further or faster and it'll all end in tears. I've actually managed to get out of the habit of doing high wheelies now and only occasionally do the odd long power wheelie instead.

However...I learnt to wheelie on a K1 GSXR600. I used to chop the throttle slightly and then hoike the bars and crack the throttle open. On the way up, I'd hook 2nd and then adjust the throttle to get to the balance point. Once there, it was all about levering the pegs and bars to try to steer it or hooking third, then fourth and going faster still.

I didn't know the Y2k blade had enough poke to hoist the front wheel? Are you using stunt gearing? hehe
