GP Pro are good Gwm but they don't like the cold and wet. The leather on the palms actually seems to get damaged when it's wet. The finish is also not consistent on the stitching.

I like mine but I wish I'd bought the 365 ones instead as I use them for all riding.

That's ok with the weather stuff, as I'm a sunshine seeker only! smile

Have a look at the Racer gloves, High End or High Racer. Kangaroo palms so have good feel and good protection all around with scaphoid sliders too
While I did like mine when new, I wore through the palms in a couple of months and material between the base of the fingers wore through. Not very durable IMHO.

Dainese the best but take ages to wear in.
I've been using the Full Metal Racers for years and love them.
They are good. Didn't need breaking in for me , tho.

Good choice. I get very hot hands and therefore have had many pairs of gloves.

Of them all I rate my last two highest of them all - the SP2 and the GP Pro.

SP2 are a little less bulky I feel and have a slimmer cuff (no plastic piece) but the GP Pro are nice gloves too. I would buy either again.

Try Held Phantom 2's or Titans if you can stretch to them. Great feel and protection.
+1
They are indeed awesome. They're also a bit longer than pretty much every other glove in their class but so comfy and light.

Are they worth the premium, especially when Alpinestars and (most) Dainese are cheaper?

I also have a pair of Alpinestars GP Pro, which are also awesome but the Phantoms have stingray, lots of rooskin and I'd be inclined to say are built a bit better.

I went through 3pairs of Alpinestars gp pro's in 3 crashes.

Then someone told me about Held gloves. I had a pair of phantoms. Also crashed 3 times but this time the same put lasted perfectly. I retired them to my spare pair and bought some new Titans. Not crashed in them yet but I'd be happy to do it. Wouldn't wear the alpinestars ones if you paid me.

What happens when they're sponsoring you and they want you to wear their new condom thick gloves?! smile

I have some Alpinestars ( not sure which model ) I wore a hole in them after mini moto racing the other week, I wasn't even going fast either ! Makes you wonder.

Another +1 for Held gloves.

Mine are 10 years old so probably an out of date model now, kangaroo palms, feel odd initially as the palms feel too thin for protection compared to normal gloves. Crashed in them 6 times on track and all good - just scuffed, no holes. The gauntlet bit is a bit too long and tight for road bike jackets and only works with my race leathers - hence they've lasted so long.

+1 for Racer. Fantastic feel and top quality thumbup

For non-race gloves, I found Held makes the very best. But for race gloves, Racer seems to have the edge over everyone else. Racer somehow manages to build high levels of feel, comfort and protection into a race glove, without compromising on any one of them. I don't know how they do it.

This happened to me with a couple of Held race gloves (Phantom and Titan). My Gore-Tex Held gloves have lasted for years, but I found my unlined Held race gloves simply wore through from day-to-day riding (despite cleaning and feeding).

In contrast, my Racer High Racer gloves lasted for many years. An annual clean and feed seemed enough to keep them going forever.

For Pete's sake! Are there any gloves that everyone agrees are good and won't drown any fluffy kittens during use?!

I've crashed in my GP Pros and they were fine. Maybe you're just a fat-handed mong?

another vote for Held gloves here, the build quality is leagues ahead of the SP2s I had. Also, the SP2s failed badly in a 45 mph crash (split seems and destroyed knuckle protection, my hands still work though, so not too bad)

Good grief smile What do you think this is? MumsNet? tongue out

Anyhoo, I hear that kitten leather is even more protective than stingray skin.
