Weird seeing that bike without a bell end on it.

Out with some pals tonight, the Fireblade is a BSB edition, very cool, the Aprilia Tuono had an Austin Racing system on it and sounded fking mint, definite exhaust envy.

Bit of a boring one but it should make working on the bike more pleasant.

I finally got fed up of mullering cross-head screws on Japanese bikes so I treated myself to a proper Japanese Industrial Standard screwdriver. I'd never heard of the make so just bought the one as a try out, it seems really well made and fits the JIS screws on the bike amazingly well. As it should, being the correct tool. Can't believe I messed about with Phillips screwdrivers for so long.

Having the right tools does help smile
I solved the problem recently by moving from a Honda to a Triumph lol
In all seriousness some of the material the japanese manufacturers make their screws/fasterners out of does leave a lot to be desired so I know exactly what you mean.

Found a link a while back on some adventure bike forum for these JIS screw drivers, from memory £14 for a set of three different sizes from the same supplier. Made a huge difference when working on the Suzuki and Honda. Just for the phaff saving factor of not having to replace mullered screws it was well worth the investment.

Be aware that the switchgear on Triumphs uses JIS screws and that they are made of cheese.
The screwdriver that comes with the bike seems to fit them OK.

Thanks for the headsup. The previous owner had already managed to bodge the left hand bar end mirror mounting bolt so it just turned when I tried to remove it, granted it was hex not JIS screw. So I'm already wary that I'm likely to find more stuff loose/bodged/butchered, the handle bars were twisted high to a frankly stupid uncomfortable riding position made worse as there are risers fitted. All sorted now.

Spotted this in my work car park. Stunning thing close up. The level of detail on it is staggering.

And I'm not sure why it's turned upside down

Gave the ape a clean after this weeks sunny weather commuting duties. I try not to commute too much on it as I don't want to pile the miles on, and I have to fill it up every other day, but when the weathers nice it's too difficult to take the car. Might start using the Kawasaki for commuting buts it's not as good at it.
