Good fun out chasing the sun last night. Managed to avoid the rain
That road is just asking for a top speed test!
It is a good road, some nice twistys leading up to it too...there's a lot of suicidal sheep you need to watch out for though!
Is that the B 6278, between Stanhope and Derwent Water, or the Stanhope to Eggleston bit? Fantastic views on a clear day.
Its off the B6278, may still be classed as it, but it's from the B6278 towards Waskerley

80 bikers, 8 hours of riding, over 300 miles covered. More than worth it to see the smile on a little boys face who suffers from autism but loves motorbikes.

Blinding day on the Ducati at Bedford autodrome, still surprised she passed the 101 limit with the termi system, went through at 99.7db

OK, I recognise it now, it's the unclassified road that goes off past Smiddy Shaw reservoir.

Just about 10 years ago I rode this out of the showroom, people thought I was mad going from a GSXR1000 to a naked bike at the time:

Not a Super Duke, but had my KTM SMR since January and I'm loving the big twin.

Superb bikes IMO.

'Kin GSXR broke down this morning , couldnt quite believe it, must have been the threat that it was going to pastures new the other week.. Real random electrical fault developed after I stopped around 40 miles into our journey, when I turn the ignition on, everything lights up on the dash as normal for a split second, then dies, if I take the ignition fuse out, the lights come on the dash as normal but of course, no start.

The rev counter makes a sweep of the dial on these GSXRs when you turn it on but now mine does when you turn it off, fuel pump isnt priming either..Im hoping its the battery as its quite possibly the original but thats being optimistic I think.
My GSXF did the same a little while ago chased earths which were all fine, I knicked my dads battery which is much newer 2yrs as opposed to 7yrs and its been fine ever since, I can only think that my old battery can no longer take any stress at start up
Alas...Just spoke to the mechanic, who usefully also has a K1 1000, they have checked battery and swapped all components over from mine to his 1 at a time and they all check out fine, he seems to think I have a break/short in the loom somewhere.

The bike will sometimes come to life briefly (split seconds) with the kill switch off and sometimes even with the ignition off..wont start either way.

Now have to decide between calling in an auto electrician or replacing the loom, a loom may well be a cheaper option.
Conclusion to the problem with my GSXR.

The Suzuki dealer again advised me to buy a second hand loom, luckily the loom I went to see was so badly damaged , I didnt buy it.

At that point I thought Id try and auto electrician, recovered the bike and delivered it to this chap.

Who 2 days later rang me and diagnosed............a faulty cell in the battery.!..It gave 12.5 volts on meter but as soon as a load was put on it, it failed.

I went back to the dealer and asked that they compensate me for not finding the fault with the battery in a reasonable time, with them being a main dealer with access to all the tools and expertise etc, which to be fair to them, they agreed to.

Whilst the bike was with back with them to replace bodywork and install a new set of plugs(part of the "compensation"), they managed to damage an indicator and a graphic ,which they where up front with and have been as decent as they have always been but with the indicator damage and Suzuki sending the wrong replacement graphic in the first attempt, its added a further 2 weeks to it being off the road but its running as sweet as ever, good to have it back.

I'm loving my "new to me" SM, despite the gear lever falling off on the third ride...

Tomorrow I'm fitting SuperCorsas, Progrips, and some cool graphics.....oh and a new gear lever....

Bloody hell what a nightmare, don't you have a multi meter mate? Seems like this has snowballed into some major ordeal, anything battery related is a piece of piss to check yourself and you can get a basic meter for about a tenner.
