I'd use masking tape, if you cut with the thread it won't jump out either, just takes patience to get started.

Alternatively just ride around until some bellend in a Mondeo hits you again and use the subsequent injury compensation to buy a bike who's previous owner didn't use brine to clean it.

I've done over 20,000 miles on my little Honda now ... Ridden most of the year and washed every couple weeks when I can be arsed but it's serviced on the dot. I've not had a seized fastener.

Sounds like lack of / poor maintenance to me. wink

Oh, sorry. I must have opened the 'how to undo a bolt' thread. I thought there might be a photo or two in here.

BTW long nose mole grips will actually distort and twist off a bolt head if it's seriously tight, Plan a) Torx socket hammered in. b) slot cut with Dremmel and flat screwdriver (use a 'used' Dremmel cutting wheel so the diameter is smaller so you can get a decent slot without damaging the fairing). or finally c) drill through centre so bolt head come off, then get the remaining bolt shaft out once the fairing is off. And now you can use some heat now too.

If still stuck weld a nut on it. And if that doesn't work, presuming now a steel bolt in an aluminium frame it'll be difficult to drill the bolt and not mess the frame. I'd be starting in the smallest drill possible so the pilot hole is 100% in the steel bolt and working up from there, with the expectation I'd have to helicoil the frame afterwards. Which you should do anyway. I always put helicoils in aluminium at the slightest hint the bolt might stick. Very easy to do, and what should have been done by the manufacturer I'd argue.

Call a stuck bolt an engineering challenge. THIS was an engineering challenge.

OK, it't not a bike, but it sits next to the bikes int he garage, so allowed I guess.

Could you not have just used the other hand to put some washing up liquid or maybe grease on your wrist/hand and then slid it out.

The hole in the block and liner was that big I could have put 2 hands in there!

Fitted an Ohlins to the 675. However I noticed a little play from side to side if I apply pressure

So if the shock Is at 12 o'clock I can move it 5 degrees clock wise and anti. Is this the norm. My dad's Ohlins also does this. Should I be using spacers as my stock one is solid.

Also do they require a special c spanner for preload

I've three and none fit. Ones close but the radius is too great when bringing it fishing bringing it out of the teeth.

The torx bit never worked on the blade it just chewed it to fk turning it. I might need to try the Irwin sockets

As it's a Triumph branded Ohlins (off a 675R), I'd speak to a main dealer and get them to check their Microfische just in case you're missing any spacers or washers. It should be rock solid.

After far to long a period, I finally got back out on a bike today for a ride. A friend lent me his R6 and there ended up there being 12 of us out riding.

The weather was gorgeous. We finished at the local custom car show where we were waved straight into the venue hall. We might have made our entrance known through liberal twisting of throttles.......

Good old K100, not sure about leaving the back of the frame intact but I suppose it allows the retention of the pannier rails and some luggage carrying ability.
Mine certainly hasn't got any...
