Ventured out for a few miles on the 500 today, I have some quiet roads on my doorstop and chanced my arm as the MOT run out last month (yeh, I know) and I was keen to see if the work id had done on the carbs had paid off.
Of course within a few hundred yards I had a police car up my backside, pulled up at the next available turning and waited for it to follow me in but it didnt, I guess the general plod cars are not ANPR equipped.
Bit of a pisser as whilst it is better, some issues remain but I havent the time, money & interest to sort for now, ill get it on a dyno for set up later in the year.
Headed over to my mates for a rideout, his TDR continued to let the 2 stroke side down when the gear linkage broke, I think he managed around 1.5 miles round trip..
Absolutely loving the VTR, aside from the fuel consumption, from a full tank, I did 64 high-ish speed miles on a mix of A roads and a thrash around MK before the fuel light came on..! Couldn't quite believe that one..

Three of us took a day off today. About 90 miles circular route Oxford to Towcester and back via Buckingham and Bicester. Stopped for an excellent lunch at the Super Sausage on the A5
Nice One. That FireBlade looks great compared to the other 3 bikes.

I don't think there is a problem with supply this year...Plus you get a free TD here or abroad a watch, nice shirt and a few other bits and the chance to get the paint blown off you on track by WSB and Moto GP riders

As they were flying around on the Slingshots around Cumbria and Northumberland I was trying to keep up on an NS400 without it seizing or popping the plug out of the rear cylinder.
Followed #1 on the list Melmerby - Hartside many years ago - a sight to behold.
Kept him in sight for almost one hairpin
It's amazing how you lot did it with crossplies, bendy wheels and no TC lol.

1100J was the earlier model (slabside?) not the Slingshot.
My memory is in the same state as my knees...

Assuming whatever triggers the fuel light hasn't moved and you can still get 12 odd litres in there then the carbs need sorting out. I used to get another 20 miles or so when it was utterly on the stop in top gear for the whole tank on foreign motorways. A session on a dyno looking at the state of the air filter, fuel needles & emulsion tubes would almost pay for itself after a few miles at that rate of fuel consumption let alone get it running right.

That's why none of us can walk straight. I was having a bag of chips with No1 on the list last week sitting in his new Nissan Juke thing and commented that we have indeed turned into really old men.We can't go back in time but I would give anything to go back to those days.

I can thoroughly recommend the R1-M exculsive trackdays. I gate crashed the one at Silverstone last year and helped myself to lots of orange juice, cake, freebie Yamalube visor wipe thingies, more cake, coffee and watched Mr Lowes (Alex or Sam - not got a clue) backing one into the corners like a fool and BN melting in the southern heat.

Oh, know exactly what you mean. It's was Macca (lad you spoke to with R1 at Chollerford a while back) who introduced me to the likes of Zappa, Toot et al.
A real life, real time biking education worth its weight in gold.

I was thinking similar regards a dyno session , I do have a bill for a carb overhaul, new filter and plugs from last year by the previous owner but you never know the quality of the work,any improvement on the current range would be welcome.
