A picture a day....biker banter (Vol 4)
Discussion
Had 2 glorious days mucking around on my GSXR, with a visit to Motorcycle Mega Store in Swindon factored in to return a few month old Alpinestars textile jacket, both the jacket and Motorcycle Megastore are ste in their own way but ill leave that for another day..
My friend has just recently bought a 2013 GSXR1000 and I had a good long test ride of that too.
Made for an interesting comparison, my bike is now 15 years old but in very good condition and well maintained, the newer bike unsurprisingly handled much better, turned quicker(especially at speed) and was far more comfortable.
The Brembos are a worthwhile improvement but be it down to the caliper or choice or brake pad, they dont have that fierce initial bite of a set fitted to a Ducati.
The engine however was a bit of a surprise, it did feel marginally quicker but wasnt so nice to use, vibey and rough feeling, it had a pronounced step in the power delivery, which then made it want to wheelie, my bikes engine is far smoother everywhere and will pick the wheel off the floor at next to no RPM.
This morning he had the bike dyno'd where I had my GSXR dyno'd a few months ago, not exactly ideal as it wasnt the same day but its valid enough.
The newer bike made 157RWHP and mine made 153RWHP...but the K1 had much more torque and power right up to 10,000RPM...The 2013 bike felt stronger mainly due to the pronounced step in the power I think.
Dyno man says he needs to ditch the cat in the exhaust and then it should make around 165RWHP, which is around what my K7 made after also ditching the cats.
I wouldn't deny id love the newer bike in my garage...but id prefer it with the K1 motor!

As good a job as you've done putting that back together, I only have two (polite) words for it
Good riddance
As we're not allowed to swear on here, otherwise the two words would have been
fk off

Enjoying the Indian Summer. I swear every photo I take is the same
This was taken ten minutes before I ran out of petrol. Had pushed the bike a mile when somebody gave me a lift to the petrol station... second time this week the kind people of Essex have helped me out! Hopefully the last time they'll need to!!
