Just the cables, throttle bodies/engine, electrics, frame, swing arm, forks, wheels, brakes, clocks and maybe the bodywork and it'll be good to go.
The throttle tube is the only good part of the R1 My Schuberth C3 Pro cracked through after a rather hard smack being thrown 10m from the initial impact at 40mph. Knocked out for 45mins with no memory of the incident, but it saved my life and from more serious injury. Great helmet. It works! Flip front remained locked and allowed paramedics to easily remove the lid with less risk to my head/neck. Will happily get another.

You all ok?
Beginning of this week. According to witnesses, a driver of a black car ran a red light at night, with no headlights, directly across my path. I T-boned the car, got ejected and did 5 somersaults before landing. I don't remember anything. Emergency crew and docs/nurses have been brilliant. Can't praise them enough for what they do. Indebted to them. You all ok?

Glad you're (relatively) okay Ade
Its only when you see damage to a helmet you realise its worth paying for something decent. I see so many helmets on my commute with unknown manufacturers that it makes me shudder. As they say, a ten bob hat for a ten bob head!
Thanks Tony. Really appreciated Lesley's and your note to follow up and check in on me Its only when you see damage to a helmet you realise its worth paying for something decent. Sorry to hear this. Hope you're ok and on the mend.
Deffo echo your sentiments regarding using quality helmets.
seeing a friends Nitro helmet disintergrate after a trip through the Kyalami gravel was enough to prove the point.
All the best

I also saw this with my team mates Nitro after an off at Silverstone. A complete piece of shyte. I'd rather pack up riding after putting one of their pisspots on my headseeing a friends Nitron helmet disintergrate after a trip through the Kyalami gravel was enough to prove the point.

He went skittling through the gravel at the bottom of the Mineshaft at over 200 and I wonder if he's have faired as badly wearing no lid at all. The visor went in a flash so his face was ripped to shreds by the gravel and the lid then basically split open like an apple. 2 Weeks in ICU due to head trauma.
people might want to argue this and that about helmets but having had some very high speed dismounts I've never had to regret buying the Arai I was about to retire.

Christ, glad you're OK! I trust they've arrested the offending driver?
Sadly I was unconscious throughout the episode and have no clue who the driver is, but I understand the Police have opened a crime case and the driver is due to give statements. One of the first attending witnesses was an off-duty Policeman who was able to orchestrate the immediate response. moanthebairns said:

Thanks Steve The rest of my gear (Dainese D-Explorer) also protected me really well too, although it couldn't prevent a broken collarbone considering the force of impact from significant height. Elbow/hips/knees all good. All of it was cut off me, including my kecks!Sorry to hear this. Hope you're ok and on the mend.

Jesus. Glad you're in one piece. It always amazes me seeing riders scrimping on kit, this is all the proof anyone needs.
The lid costs £850 with the SRC Pro, but it was great regaining consciousness to my satnav and the medic checking my breathing and not the sound of harps at the Pearly Gates. Worth every penny.Chipchap said:
So now we have proof of at least one thing an R1200GS is no good at. It cant shove cars out of the way or leap over them in a single bound, bloody useless bike.

I bet the Triple Black could do it though... GWS chap.

Likewise, Stu and thank you The witnesses expected the worst according to their account of what happened, and they are amazed at how light my injuries are given. Clearly not my day yet, and there's so much more to do yet! It has given me lots to think about though. Stay safe out there people! Buy the best gear you can get - it might just save your life one day.Glad you are ok SP!
Of course there is the argument that while you are impressed with the helmet, you were still knocked out cold. Would another helmet have offered more protection and prevented that from happening? Playing devil's advocate of course, it is just something that I have noticed whereby people only mildly injured in crashes have been impressed with how their kit held up, but have no way of knowing how other gear would have reacted in the same circumstances. Clearly a Schuberth would do better than a cheapo lid, but a Shoei/Arai/Bell? No way of knowing, really.
....did somebody say Sharp test?
But that's all by the by, main thing is that you are alright, relatively speaking.
When that happened to my Triumph Speed Four it turned out that the plastic ring carrying the magnets that trigger the speed sensor had fallen apart (possibly assisted by a ham-fisted mechanic, but it was over a year after the tyre was replaced).
130 quid from Triumph.
Less than 30 quid for an alloy replacement made by a bloke in Germany. Thanks for the reply! Yes, that seems to be the consensus. It is currently working about 50% of the time, so need to get it fixed ASAP.

Well I got my SV to 186 the other day.
Then 12, then 78, 147, 8, 156 ...... no idea what was wrong with it but the speedo was having a total hissy fit, changing the speed every second from 0-186, regardless of how fast I was going. It would work lucidly for a bit, and then do it again.
I had new tyres the other day and thought the speedo reader thing could have been put back on wrongly, but as I'd ridden 200 miles before the problem occurred, it doesn't make sense.
It's not the end of the world, but I have now lost the excuse of trying to see how high the speedo will go.
