Can someone explain the merits in terms of security that locking your clutch offers?

Bike left in gear so harder to push away without being able to pull in the clutch?

Looks to me like the clutch is pulled in, therefore should be easy to push even if in gear

Moot point. If you're a horrible you'd just pick it up and throw it in the back of a van anyway.

Not bike related but the man reminds me of an era of Great British Boxing and riding around on an AR 50:

Managed to get the chance to do some pads with Nigel Benn(The Dark Destroyer) the other night:-Bucket List tick for me:

Its a bike, they aren't hard to get out of gear anyway.

I was only suggesting a rationale, not saying it made much sense!

I know, my sentence wasn't intended to be abrupt!

The device should be on the brake, not on the clutch, they are designed to make them hard to move to hinder a theft etc

Since it says Croc Lock on the device, a quick google brings up:

"Croc Lock is physical security device from Datatool who have been involved in providing security for motorcycles for a large number of years. In many ways it is not a new or revolutionary idea; it is just a thoroughly modern version of a previous idea using modern materials to further enhance its security capability.

In simple terms Croc Lock works by locking the front brake lever to the handlebar of any machine, thus preventing the vehicle from being pushed off its stand and wheeled away. It is far more visible than a disc lock, easier to install and impossible to forget, thus reducing the risk of damage or causing embarrassing moments!"

Maybe once the rider can differentiate between his brake and clutch he'll be part way to losing the L-plates.
