Fantastic - lucky enough to have had many a chat with Paul Smart when he ran my local Kawasaki dealership in the 90s, before it was bought out by Motorcycle City (now a sodding cycle shop ) He had one of his Ducatis up on the wall - I think the one he won Daytona on. It's all before my time, but I am the same age as his son, who delivered my Dad's ZZR1100 new in the mid 90s. Both were lovely blokes.scunnylad]O [url said:

That carb placement, honestly looks like a joke! 2-strokes and their 'spanny forced compromises!Edited by 3DP on Tuesday 2nd February 12:31

Got back late Thursday night from Germany, helping my friend with his bike transportation business move a variety of RDs(YPVS/LCs and older AC), some lovely TDR250's and a shed load of 2 stroke parts.
All of it worth 2, 3 and 4 times the value in the UK, just because the bikes are far more common and easily found over there. (bigger market back in the day I guess)
The dealer was in a small village. in the middle of the black forest and was beautiful, when we made it there on the Wednesday night, there was big piles of snow all around the sides of the road but it was 16 degrees.
Only a few pics as it was all a bit of a dash to get the Chunnel to and from.
Some great riding around there, I used to know a bloke who run a bikers hotel in Bad Grund? I think it was.All of it worth 2, 3 and 4 times the value in the UK, just because the bikes are far more common and easily found over there. (bigger market back in the day I guess)

A wee bit of self indulgence here. An old friend scanned these newspaper clippings and results sheet from SA of us all way up in Northern Transvaal playing in club racing on a weekend off from Nationals.
I am on a modified Z1R complete with front slick and treaded rear and it still has the cable operated front master cylinder unique to the Z1R. Bike was not mine and was fairly fast but properly unruly and underbraked. The 750's were new 1981 CB750FA's and #92 and the one further back were both Honda Castrol official riders who went on to greater things. I am #327.
