The problem was it was 7 lap races.

The spread was too big. Guys doing 51 second Laps and others on superstock 1000s doing a 1:04. That's intermediate pace.

Imo they shouldn't be in that class, you sure as fk shouldn't be getting lapped within 4 flying Laps

Knockhill do a race anything novice series. These guys should be in there. As they just got in the way.

Anyway that's what it was. I've seen enough bike racing in the flesh to know I don't see it all. But there wasn't much going on at all.
Why shouldn't they be?
Its not track days so just forget all that trackday bullst, so what if they aren't at a certain pace, the fast guys just go past them, they aren't in the way at all!

I just think youre talking st to be honest and maybe should appreciate more that these guys and gals cut the bullst and go and do it regardless of their speed, not everyone can lap at warp speed and provide you with endless entertainment.

There were guys lapping at 1.42 at Oulton yesterday, my mate lapped at 1.50 and came 6th, he literally stood no chance but just knuckled down to it, the back markers were all doing under 2 min laps but that's a big chunk of time, it mattered not one bit.

All I'm saying is that some things deserve a bit more credit and appreciation, its the same with any sport, they need the supporters and fans to continue to run.
I think your looking from it from rose-tinted glasses. You were there cheering on your brother at his first race yesterday.

I was there as a walk up punter.

Your connected and have a reason to be interested. I went to watch bikes racing and I was bored. That's it. Simple. Was it a bad round, maybe. Am I being over critical, who cares. I was bored.

I don't care what you think that's my opinion. I went I gave an opinion that's it. I'm not going to suddenly be less bored watching it because you tell me it's guys giving it a go doing it.

Do you go into the film section on ph and tell them they are wrong for not liking a small budget amateur film. Because this is exactly what your doing here.

To be fair I get what you're saying MTB. I've been watching the thundersport rounds on YouTube as I know (or know of) people in quite a few of the classes so tend to watch what they're doing. The other classes where I don't know anyone I don't really bother watching as I'm not really following anyone in particular.

To people who turn up not knowing anyone, the racing is going to have to be close to keep people's attention. I get that we're not the fastest people ever but you watch bike racing for the excitement. Watching someone wobble round slowly isn't exactly exciting. The same way watching people on a track day full of people you don't know isn't exciting.

Not interested in the Mtb / Curlie debate , personal opinions both .... but back markers , in my estimation, make the racing even more exciting , if there is any to be had at all and not just a procession , as two or more front-runners often deal with traffic differently and it adds to the potential racecraft show, not just a foregone conclusion .....I think ...?

MTB and I are cool in my eyes, I understand his views but was just trying to add a different perspective really.

Sometimes it's hard to get retrospective opinions across without looking like a knob haha. With that in mind, I apologise for causing offence but Alex is a tough nut and it's like water off a ducks back.

You should give it a go Alex, then we can cheer you on too! biggrin

Great result for your brother there Curlie ( John) 1.57 first time out on pretty much standard cbr600fx/y is absolutely cracking and he will be super fast very quickly I would wager....great effort and much to be proud of mate ! A real time as well - gps recorded not a bedtime wish / girlfriend on pit wall said it etc etc ...
Similarly John on his new to him 12 year old R1 against one or two of the occasional back of the Superstock paddock ( Chris Barnes and Kiaran Hankin etc ) on their latest stocker machinery - different race ... but a good shakedown for him and he was pissing past me on steady 52s on trackdays on his 675 doing 48s so he will only get quicker again I would reckon on the R1 .... Great participation and always nice to have an affiliation to someone out there doing it - hope to see you all soon - take care thumbup
Cheers, they both did well and will definitely get quicker, Dave was particularly taken aback by how bonkers grid starts are.
Barnes, Hankin and the Jones brothers were mightily impressive.

Yep, catch you soon.

I should warn you since my brain had a thump I am incredibly quick to anger and aggressive as fk. So I will knock your out. But don't worry the doctors say it will go. So it will be fine the next time I see you. Lots of love.

I'm actually being deadly serious. I snap at the littlest thing just now with this. The other half is black and blue.

Some extra's already on order. All ready for the riding season here. Booked in to ride to Las Vegas in June and probably a few others before too long!

Cracking...4 grumpy middle aged men..!.all part of the job description..

On a similar theme, 2 stroke meet at a local cafe today, weather put many off I think but I took the LC along, with my daughter on pillion. I cant get my head around the fact around her age, I had my first LC..

Some lovely bikes made it anyway.

That's a great picture of you and your daughter, print it off and laminate it, photo's are great to look back at and I'm sure she will look back in 30/40 years with fond memories while we are dribbling into our breakfast in some far away nursing home.

We are nearly into May so what's up with our weather at the moment where we still get snowfall once in a while!
Nearly froze my nuts off on the bike into work this morning, might have to put thermal base layer back on tomorrow.
