Lovely...where abouts exactly is that place? Im sure ive seen that in a film of recent.
It's Dinant, in the Ardennes bit of Belgium. Some stunning towns here - we stayed in Bouillon which was gorgeous. Slight bike content... (This was the view from our hotel room).

Nice..Makes me want to get away on the bike again...Ive no idea where I stayed the last time I visited Belgium , for the 1990 500 GP at Spa, I do remember it pissed down constantly, first time id ridden abroad, approached everyone roundabout andjunction with confusion , held the horn on constantly to stop the traffic and waved my arm if I felt I needed too, also erred on the side of caution by riding across the middle of the roundabouts/junctions/down pavements if I felt it helped..

Luckily my pillion had never been on a bike before and had no idea of what was going on or any fear..Happy days..

Some form of DaVinci code...?...!

How are you finding it so far? They look a quality item from a few paces away, does that extend to the finish under the fairing?

Once you've finished building it and decided you prefer your old 04 R1, can I buy it John wink

Or if you go the other way and find yourself with redundant Lava red 04 R1 then I may be in the market. Things are clearly getting desparate owning a 98 R1 as friends are starting to suggest Ducatis as possible replacements!

They seem to be well finished, dare I say it, better than the Fireblade I had previously, the fairings are as fiddly as the Fireblades were. I think I'm just a grumbling old fart now as I spent most of the time swearing at it until the Mrs came in and told me to shut up.

Out early this morning, bloody cold so stopped in Deddington to defrost my fingers, thought the old girl looked good against the the Northamptonshire stone.

Weekend trip to Belgium is going surprisingly well. 10C and rain was forecast but we've had 15C and bright sun!

Awesome - I've got a 2 day weekend Belgium/Luxembourg trip planned to exactly that area - down into Luxembourg the first day camping at Esch-sur-Sure, then back home the next day via Spa and Givet. It was either this weekend (weather didn't look warm enough, and I'll be camping) or 21st-22nd May. Fingers crossed the weather holds out/gets better. biggrin

But it is right on the Northants border, generically known as Northamptonshire stone.

As soon as I posted it I knew an 'expert' would correct me!

Had my 1996 Yamaha Royalstar since 2006, and since first day riding it I wanted to chop it in or do a project on it - totally useless in every respect other than to my eye at least, looks fab.

Fed up with cruiser gearing that when in 5th / 6th is overdrive - so not much acceleration in those gears, cruiser 5000 rpm rev limit which as soon as the throttle is opened results in engine reaching its limit and runs out of puff, and puny cruiser 75-100BHP power output (depending on bike make / model). I decided to upgrade the 75BHP Yamaha Royalstar 1300cc engine to full Vmax 150BHP spec.

Bike dyno tested at 140BHP, the redline is now 10,000 rpm, sports bike not cruiser gearing and when the Vboost valve opens at 6000 rpm, the surge in torque and induction roar out of the ramair filters mounted directly on top of the Vmax's huge carbs is wonderful and addictive!!!

At full vmax power the bike is a straight line warrior that away from lights gives a surprise to more than a few! but it certainly wont be seen going around any corner at a speed greater than walking pace, and braking, well, it would probably be better to drag my heels behind the bike to try and come to a stop instead of hoping the bikes own brakes stops the bike. The project was completed with lots of completely unnecessary chrome, a corbin seat, powder coat black wheels, white wall tyres.

Needed a fair engineering activity to get the VMAX motor in the frame and running, especially with Royalstar engine casings and the frame mod that was needed.

Managed a hour at Oulton late on today. I didn't get chance to take any photos as my daughter took over the camera, mainly taking photos of grass and armco.

She was really impressed with the first wheelie that she's ever seen, somehow managed to snap it to. She had a huge smile on her face.

Dad Dad Dad Dad did you see that. I took a picture I took a picture biggrin

Then it turned into Dad can you do that on your motorbike ? So I did what any respectable bloke who can't pull a wheelie would do. Told her I couldn't hear what she said because the bikes were to loud laugh tbh I've never tried, but couldn't let her down could I.
