Heck of a memorable family day yesterday, my brother had bought my Dad a Ron Haslam school "premier" course but he wasnt comfy on the CBR600s , so I took his place and absolutely loved it, just the right amount of track time and instruction, I havent done many trackdays and havent been on track for over 11 years and never ridden Donnington before.
Adam Shelton was our instructor and he was a great lad, made a huge difference to my safety and speed by the end of the day.
Whilst we was on track, Dad was milling about and the organisers had, unbeknown to him and me, spoke to Ron Haslam and arranged to take Dad out on a Fireblade, we left the debrief and came out to Dad all kitted out chatting to Ron, I was shocked to say the least, Dads fitness isnt quite what it used to be so I asked Ron to take it easy for a bit at least and check with him..Ron proceeded to come past us(at what we later learnt was around 120-130MPH) on the back wheel...(apologies for the crappy screen shot)
I was more than a little worried but he did 4 laps with him on pillion and as you can see from the after pic, Dad was pretty cool with it! My friend who was on track said the pair of them came past him and he couldnt stay with them..
Ron then went through the corners and speeds with Dad on a track map , with Dad pointing out where they wheelied on the straighter sections..
Just an amazing day out, id recommend the course to anyone....It also made me question having got rid of the GSXR for the VFR and by a strange twist, on the way home the buyer of my GSXR had to pull out of buying it , so for sale, 1 x 2000MY VFR800....

A mate of mine was also there and he loved it!
I was a bit puzzled by your decision to sell the GSXR, I did 3 track days on my K2 and it was great around the track.
As for VFR's, my wife took one out for a test last year as she was thinking about buying one and she said it was 'dull' and 'Boring' I think this must be definitely the case once you've stepped of a GSXR!

Nice! What modifications have you done to make it trail friendly? Just lights and registration or have you done suspension, gearing, etc?
It will be a CRF250L with a big bore kit on it. Road legal so came with lights etc. It has an FMF on there with a header too - so hopefully has an EJK on there as well. It has YSS stickers on it, so presumably the suspension has been changed. Apparently the increase in power from the big bore is enough to overcome the stock gearing (way way over geared stock)Of course the owner can tell us more
Not sure if this link will show the lad I was watching at Cadwell on Tuesday in the inters group.
He was getting serious air earlier on, some guy.
