A picture a day....biker banter (Vol 4)
Discussion
130 miles down to San Diego, arrived at 11pm, stopped outside the Ferrari showroom for a quick window browse and noticed the bike slowly sinking to the left. Managed to catch it just before it keeled over but my lid went on a rather bouncy trip down the street amidst the heroics.. Kickstand fractured at the top, top bolt snapped which made the spring fall out. Buggered up my plans for the Palomar mountain run the following day as I spent most of it trying to get the thing fixed. Rode back up at 3am the next on a perfectly empty highway which was fantastic, but A LOT colder than I bargained for.

That's unusual, have you been mounting the bike from the left hand side using the foot peg? Prof Prolapse said:
Is there any real advantage in them?
Only I'd sooner lose a couple of sprung kilograms from my fat arse than my battery.
Better cranking power... Only I'd sooner lose a couple of sprung kilograms from my fat arse than my battery.
I replaced it as the original was getting tired... a decent lead battery replacement was about £45-£50 ... this was an extra £20 more for improved cranking and 2kg weight loss.
No brainer.
Can you plug it into a standard optimate or will that burn your house down?

Great story Podman, good on your old man for getting out and passing his test.
My old man has had bikes all his life, had some great times out on bike with him
Sadly a stroke has finished his riding days

Yep! I did as well!!! On smaller batteries like the blade you save around 1.5-2.0kg, but on bigger stuff (twins) the weight saving is pretty big ... I know a guy that took his battery out of his Ducati ... it weighed over 6kg... the lithium replacement was less than 1kg! ...
