I've been toying with a similar loop, but around the Baltic for a few years now. What was your total mileage, daily mileage and time away for the trip?
I'm off to Scandinavia tomorrow (via Hull-Rotterdam ferry, Holland and Germany, to Copenhagen for a couple of nights, ten or so nights in Sweden, then back through Copenhagn and home the reverse of the outward leg).
I did Home-Holland-Germany-Denmark-Sweden-Finland-Sweden-Norway-Sweden-Denmark-Home a couple of years ago. Two weeks, 3,700 miles. More of a ball acher now there's no more ferries direct to Scandinavia.
About 5500-6000 miles all in, my odometer got out of sync so stopped displaying mileage. Apparently it just needs the computer plugged in to resync it. I had a few big days in the saddle as the trip really started in Norway and ended in Ukraine. Took 3 weeks to do it and daily mileage varied. New tyres in Helsinki half way round. Did you just ride in or is it a controlled area? That looks so surreal
Controlled, you go with a tour group. There's a number of checkpoints that you have to get through at the 30km exclusion zone, 10km exclusion zone and Pripyat itself. There's illegal people entering but apparently the punishment is a suspended sentence so it doesn't really put people off.

after my Dad came to the last 2 stroke meet with me, he found himself drawn to the BSA Bantam's there and after talking to some owners, today ended up buying this 1967 model, 5 owners (12 less than my LC...) partially restored , runs and rides a treat, he was a very happy boy..Truth be told, I quite fancied it for myself.
Some other interesting stuff in the workshop, this 1955 50c Ducati powered Britax will be a stunner when its finished.
So I was told, this Ariel was claimed by the Germans after we evacuated from Dunkirk and still wears its German identification plate, apparently the Germans did this with "reclaimed" vehicles. The new owner wants to get it up and running but leave it with its original patina , very cool.

That sent a shiver down my spine. From what I've found out, my Granddad and his brother were both bike riders in a motorcycle regiment (Queen Victoria Rifles) and was sent to Dunkirk to help with the evacuation. There was a series of mistakes & they were dropped off further down the coast at Sangatte without their machines and with very little ammunition.
Granddad got captured & spent the war in a Polish PoW camp before being on the death march at the end of the war. His brother died at his side on the beach in a mortar attack.
Having been to the area & seen pictures of the devastation in the area it's no wonder he didn't talk about it.

That's a bugger, hope you're OK If you get stuck there's a company just down the road from me that specialises in straightening forks and the like
I'm fine mate. The incident was a year ago. It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago when I had the valves done that it was pointed out to me. I did look after the incident, but from the wrong angle. Believe it or not, it made no difference to the handling that I noticed in that time Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
