How do I get this bd out.

I've drilled a lot with lots of luck previously but after a drill piece shattered taking a nice chip out my fairing and nearly blinding me (yes I'm a tt always wear safety specs) I'm hesitant to drill any more. Especially as it's threaded into the frame.

I tried one of those easy out thread things. It laughed at it and chewed it to fk.

I've tried hammering a bigger socket in. It goes in lovely then just rips it up.

I've plus gased it and left it to sat a few times.

How do you get it out without damaging the fairing ... Further frown

I will never own another Honda cheap nasty ste. Took me 30 minutes to whip my dad's daytona fairing off and do and oil and filter all in. This always takes me two fking days.
TORQZ head. Tap a size slightly bigger than the O/D into the hole and gently unwind.

This 1.3GL Escort had covered 5,000 miles from new!

Loads of Ferraris /Porsches /top end cars there but when did you last see a Nova Cab ?

Origina Viva

Some lovely Fast Fords.

Fantastic! !!!

Some lovely stuff but the Viva is the star for me. Totally unassuming but such a throwback.

So tap. Not drill?

I'm pissed so forgive me.
Torqz as in the star shaped feckers. Find the size that won't quite fit inside than tap it I . Might take a decent tap you understand but it'll cut its way in l it should grip and then you're sorted.

No, You don't drill. It heeds a decent amount of oversize to bite into. Try again with the next size up

It looks extremely dry..

Have you tried a little lube ?

I have a set of mole grip pliers with narrow long nosed jaws, if you can find something similar there's a very good chance of unscrewing from behind the panel.

The previous idea using an oversized torx bit seems to be the most sensible, I'd also hammer it on with an impact driver. If that fails, mask off the fairings and see if you can use a Dremmel to take the head off. Remove the fairings and remove the stud with some heat. I know it's too late now but always dip the little feckers in copper grease or they do seize on.

I did all with copper slip. Must have forgot this one. I'm not trying to be funny. But fk me it's seen the rain a handful of times and they siezed. They are just nipped up. Utter pish cheap ste.

I might just nip to my local mechanic And slip him a tenner to do that with an impact driver. I don't have one. I utterly detest seized stuff. Im useless at it.

Remember to turn the bit clockwise a fraction before turning anticlockwise to break the bond... not wanting to teach you to suck eggs etc.

The problem is that it's a steel bolt going in to a aluminium tab on the bottom of the sump, you get a reaction between the two metals and they seize, that's why I never tighten it up too much. I'm surprised Honda didn't put a steel threaded insert in.

I forgot to do so the last time. I assumed hammering it would do so almost but I'll remember

It's every fking one. I spent two days removing most of the fkers at winter. Making sure I copperslipped them. I forgot one bugger. One.

Since you can get access to the head, try these or similar:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Irwin-Bolt-Grip-Remover-3...

Reverse thread so best bet of undoing it. I've used them before to remove stuck bolts much bigger. Just be gentle when you first get going so as not to chew up the head.

If you cant do the torx bit thing. You can try.

Try and get mole grips on it ( put masking tape on the fairings first though just in case it slips )
Cut a slot in it and use a flat screw driver.
Weld a nut onto it.

Whatever you do soak it in WD40 first.
