You're lucky. That bit normally seizes on the bike!

John, can I ask where did you get your & Aky's in race fairings from? Are they UK standard race stuff that's then been painted or pre-painted shipped from China like auctmarts.com?
Simon ordered them from Italy last year, we changed the colour scheme a bit from their own design.

Quality is good and the price was OK too. (we ordered 4 sets)

that was the plan but then I noticed exactly how fked the bolts are down there. And there are lots of them. Not sure whether to pretend I never looked at the thing (it works ok afaik - for now....) or start trying to unseize bolts/drilling them out etc etc. Or wire it into the fully open position and cut the actuator cables?!?

Took this wee beastie out for a test ride yesterday. Utterly bonkers, full of character, and now I've ridden one I feel the marmite looks actually suit the bike's batst personality!

Aye they are a nightmare, I have had to drill them out on every Yamaha I've ever owned with them, there's 2 bolts for the cover and 2 or 3 bolts holding the valve in, if its working I'd be inclined to leave well alone, easy way to check is to cycle the ignition on and off or rev the engine and watch if the valve moves, if not its ballache time, and don't cut the cables, they are expensive to replace!

Maybe, but a good thing he stopped.

I was in a single-vehicle bike crash on a quiet backroad not far from home, I ended up lying at the side of the road totally winded (broken collarbone & ribs), bike near me and engine still running/wheel going round. At least 4 cars drove by/round me (probably because they didn't want to deal with a death?), eventually a guy stopped and helped, got the bike up etc.

As I was close to home I called the Wife to take me to A&E.

I didn't involve insurance as there was no one else involved, damage was around £500 for the parts (I did the work myself) and I had a £300 excess so it paid me to not claim as no doubt the increase in policy over the next 2-3 years would have been way more than £200.
