Here's one from a year newer than your Indian. Our 1923 Montgomery in Ireland a few weeks back, along with the old man's 28 AJS.
Random question time. I'm a little surprised to see tax disc holders on them. I know old Cars are tax exempt or at least used to be ( maybe that's changed now ) Does / did this also apply to bikes ?

I appreciate you've been doing other (birthday type?) stuff as well before but coming home on a Tuesday after Friday to Sunday on track is just far too long. It's a bit like talking after sex. Finished, go home, anything else is just waiting....
Hope you had a good 'un?

Yeah they're exempt. The AJS on the right has the original 1978 tax disc in it from when dad put the bike on the road, it was a race bike and not registered before that. Think the Monty just has whatever was in it when the law changed
For fans of old bikes have a look at http://www.motorcyclecannonball.com/
Mostly Indian, H-D & Henderson. My wife's cousin is currently 7th on a Norton.

That's cool!Mostly Indian, H-D & Henderson. My wife's cousin is currently 7th on a Norton.
I've been following via facebook as a chap I know is out doing the 'tintype' photography of the rally and has been posting many ccol shots. I've seen a few photos of the Norton, the only one on the rally I believe?!
Another friend did it a couple of years back on his Veloce (pre-runner of Velocette) which is when I started following it. They then moved from to pre-31 bikes for a couple of years but are now back to veteran.

Spa, 1983,my mates Kwak
This was at a time when this section of track was still a public road.
My first ever foreign trip on bike.
We went to Assen gp,followed by a few days in Germany then onto Spa for the gp the following weekend.
Great trip,a group of lads,most of us teenagers,foreign countries,bikes,beer,laughs
IIRC bikes that went, Mk 1 guzzi le mans,GS 1000,Z 1000 mk11,Z1R,Z650 (2)Z750 (pictured)LC350 (2)
This was still public road into the mid 90s, I drove with a mate (sadly not on bikes) up a single lane (they'd barrier-ed off the full width) Eau Rouge a number of times up to Les Combe where the old public road split off from the race track Coming back (as it was two way road) you were diverted around the top of eau rouge but you could join up and do it again. This was at a time when this section of track was still a public road.

Looks like in the 80s from the photo you could do a full commitment run lol
Spent the morning hooning around on this (the picture was taken when I collected it with 168 miles on the clock, it went back with less chicken strips!)
Brilliant fun, ultimately I wouldn't buy one as I don't think it is quite deserving of the high price tag, there is a few niggles and cheap bits that would need sorting to warrant that price. Riding wise I can't fault it though, despite only being a single with 73bhp it doesn't really feel too lacking.

They are the most fun I've had on a bike on the road. I'd love a 690R but they are priced a bit high, an S1000R isn't much more.Brilliant fun, ultimately I wouldn't buy one as I don't think it is quite deserving of the high price tag, there is a few niggles and cheap bits that would need sorting to warrant that price. Had a top day. A few mates rode over to help me collect a new MY2017 Triple Black GS today, which I promptly rode 180miles to empty it's first tank! It's almost a year since the last one was destroyed in a head on RTA. Great to be back on the horse. The new 2017 GS has a revised gearbox and shaft damper, and it's far better than before.
