Id imagine you can be miles away from any roads, towns and no mobile signal in places like that.
Presumable people carry a basic tool kit to bodge things while out riding. What do people do when they break down and can't bodge it or fall off and break something that makes the bike unusable ?
Do you just find a local farmer to help get the bike back or something ?
Random question I know. Its not like being half way round a trail centre on a mountain bike, miles away from the car. You can always push or carry it back. I've had the pleasure of that and it wasn't nice.
I did the Yamaha off road centre in Wales the other week - awesome fun. £200 + £40 diesel to have a blast around. I am trying to convince myself to get a cheap one for the winter - but with a bun in the oven with the missus it is difficult to justify the cost.. and the time. Plus, not knowing anyone else into makes it difficult to justify doing it.
Elbow still hurts now - i think a MRI is needed. Love it.

This arrived at my house yesterday. At 70 years old, the ZZR1400 was getting a little heavy for my dad, so I sold it for him. After some discussions on an MT10 we decided the ideal bike would be a GSXS1000FA to give comfort, lightness and a decent slug of performance.
There is a rule that Euro3 stock has to be registered by Dec 10th so there are some good deals on non-Euro 4 compliant bikes out there. Usually I'd buy in the dead of winter, but spotted a great deal due to this Euro 4 thing and did the deal for him.
It's actually a fantastic bike with a great chassis and engine. Even the looks are growing on me. Certainly a lot of bike for the money, but most importantly my old man loves it....and yes - it wheelies, very very well

Indeed, there are frequent very long straight stretches, where you can just relax and admire the amazing cliffs and canyons left and right! And in the twisty stuff, I was amazed how easy it was to guide around even quite tight turns. A very pleasant surprise.How much where the bikes to hire and for how long did you have them mate?
We rented from Eagle Rider for only 6 riding days + 2 nights hotel in Las Vegas at the end. It cost around $2200 (I think, my brother still needs to bill me!), which includes 3 star accommodation (perfectly fine), but dates and insurance options can of course make that vary somewhat. Bikes seem to be in good order. If you order a GPS as well, it will be programmed for each day's riding. Bring your own gear + helmet though, what they rent ain't great.
We went from Las Vegas - Rickman (route 66) - Sedona - Grand Canyon - Page (Lake Powell) - St George (via Zion Park) - Vegas.
October also great time of year to do it!
Buy a go-pro if you go - we didn't and sorely regret it.

My friend has just decided on one of these after trying the MT09 and MT10, apparently , so the dealer informed him, the 2017 bike will have an updated fairing so he is waiting until the NEC show to commit either way but that does look very good in the red and if there's a good deal on, id save the cash as you have.

It was worth the £12 and the ride out on a beautiful sunny day.
There were some great bikes on display, auto jumble, spare parts and great food.
It was very relaxed and John McGuinness was very relaxed and just mingled with the public, he even started his bike up on the stand!

My budgets are as close to 2k as possible in cost and insurance below 500. But has to be nice enough that I want to ride it hence no bandit or old hornet on there. I intend to keep for 12-24 months then move on to something else as at the moment I have no idea if I want a superbike or sports tourer eventually.

SV650 are nice. Cheap to buy and run (55+mpg). Quite nice looking esp with lower fairing. But engine runs out of puff at the top end and you'll find it not much faster than the bikes you've done your test on. I had one and started thrashing it everywhere - fun but frustrating. FZ6 had one briefly. Didn't get on with it. Engine has what feels like NO torque at all until really caning it. Top end sounds amazing as it SCREEEAAAAMS, but doesn't suit the upright riding position and budget, soggy suspension. I sold mine pretty quickly
FZS600 fazer are a good shout as cheap to run and nicer than the FZ6. Bit old looking though cheap as chips.
CBR600F would be my choice. 2001 ish fuel injected model. Mildly sporty and still look good. Should be cheaper on insurance than a full on super-sport, but you'd not get bored as quickly.
