That's a first class gift! Would you tell her im going to get one too..

Reminds me of the Fathers Day gift I got a few years back, my Mrs "stole" my camera and compiled this book of various and random bike related pics from over the years..

I think your fathers day present had a bit of sincerity behind it bless her, mine was delivered with more of a distaste biggrin . To be fair to her she bought me a hot air bike blower to dry off my bike after a wash so she's not all bad.

So I found a couple of photos in the family archives of relatives on bikes back in the day. Can the knowledgeable work out what the bikes were?

My uncle sitting on presumably my Grandpa's bike.

Not even sure who this is, let alone what they are sitting on!

That it is...and would that be £2.06 a gallon. ...of 4 star...
89 or the close finish in 1990?.

Trying to think where that would be with a fuel station on the inside of the course, has to be the one near Laurel Bank/Glen Helen?

Looking again, Honda Britain Colours so 1990. Pretty sure it's the 250/Lightweight race. I was laid up with a broken leg but was able to drive to a nearby hill (in Cornwall) and listen to the Manx Radio TT commentary.

Top one probably a Panther "Sloper". Pre war?

Bottom one is an Ariel Red Hunter 500cc twin - mid 1950's

After owning the bike 2 weeks this was what it looked like today.

All to fit heated grips. All was going well but the throttle side hasn't stuck. So more glue applied and awaiting results this time round. Fingers crossed.

The side valve single is a BSA. EDIT: BSA M35?

I think the second pic is an early BSA A7, the original Val Page design rather than the Bert Hopwood A10/A7.

if they are oxfords, they'll spin when they heat up. My LHS does then goes reasonably solid when it cools/cold

Well the glue didn't work. So I applied electrical tape to thicken out the throttle tube which seemed to work until near the end so I gave it some umph to force it on. Then disaster. Snapped locator pin for switchgear and the push throttle cable. So all round bad do.

Ordered new cable and picked up some wet n dry to pack out the switchgear to stop it from spinning.

You know when you think I shouldn't have started this.

Nope frown

I'd do the enduro thing myself but even a small off or tumble could knacker me up for the year so it's not happening.

I'll be ordering some tyres this week and will fit them then I'm going to go out if its dry and 10 degrees, it seems like I've watched every bike video on youtube, polished the bike down to the metal, bought loads of new kit and bike parts and I'm itching to get out, I just don't want to cover the bike in salt, might have to invest in some acf50 or I'm half tempted to buy a winter snotter/trackbike and just get out, I've got decent cold weather gear but I'm a pussy really as I don't like greasy stty roads covered in st as I like to crack on a bit.
