Kudos to the chap in 5th. He was on a GSX1100E air cooled up against the GSXR modern tackle.
Kath in 9th on a 750 is the pick of the bunch for me.
Surprised no one has picked up on the name in 8th

We had heard about Zappa and them lot a couple of years before we met. They hung around westgate road on a Saturday doing wheelies and burnouts ( think Mad Max) and did their stuff around the Durham/hartside are, they were all also from Newcastle area so seemed well dodgy to us lot.

The first clash on the road came May 1st 1994 (the day Senna died) we had been to the lakes and stopped at Hartside. When we came out there they all were, fkn GSX-R's of all colours and shapes, paddock jackets over leathers, straight through pipes etc etc, while us lot looked like we'd just stepped off a 500gp grid.

I was on a demonstrater from Ian Bells After sticking my exup head on into a car a month before Aky was on his Fireblade, rest of the lads had fireblades, 600 honda's and what not.

I set off at the front and stopped there until not far off Hexham when Aky came past me sideways on the brakes and hit a telegraph pole. Snapped thigh, punchered lung and a mangled hand that is still fked today.

That was our introduction to them lot.
What amazes me is how so many survived the era - it was mad and the roads really were race tracks.

In comparison, the odd jaunt to DB and Hartside seems rather tame now (with the odd bit of 'going for it' in fits and farts).

Saturdays on the Hill is where they got the idea for the film wink

Isn't Simmi the lad doing the exhausts and stuff up in Consett?

He seems like a nice bloke but said he couldn't get the right sized pipe to knock up a replacement link pipe for my Akrapovic.
That reminds me, that's another job I still need to sort

Dad and me removed the wheels from his Bantam today, he is having them rebuilt with new rims, spokes and the existing hubs and brake plates blasted & repainted, with new tubes and tyres to finish the job.

As the rest of the bike is in great condition, it should look very posh when its all done.

Just finished a couple of weeks of maintenance on the bikes; servicing, tyre changes etc. ready for the better weather.

Took the old'un out for a test ride on Monday, took this pic on my return;

Something to me this week end, drag racing. Helping MSK Racing and.their stable of S1000RR bikes. Standing next to the start line is an experience.
