I doubt I'd get away from him on the roads these days, he's gotten a bit quick over the last few years, plus he has a bike advantage
My tired old Lava Red R1 can still smoke him and his HP4 Carbon.Jazoli said:

Fingers crossed for you, hope it all goes to plan!
It's your first big bike is that right, or am I confusing you with someone else?

Hope you're enjoying it as I type this although the weather down south doesn't look to clever if the news is to be believed.

An unusual choice for a first big bike but a good one I think. Had a go of that era speed triple, had a really meaty motor and real sense of solidity about the whole thing.

It was the bike I really wanted. I had convinced myself to go with a 955i Speed Triple, and I do really like them. I thought that was a sensible idea since I really wanted the Daytona, but thought it might be a bit much. In the end, a measure of common sense and some maths made the case for the Daytona - you might as well get what you want instead of what you think you should get, and the Daytona doesn't carry the Speed Triple tax either, which sees comparable Speeds sell for considerably more. It's quite a serious proposition but I'm taking it slow, learning the ropes and getting a feel for it. The bike feels solid, the engine is fantastic and it's pretty fking fast too, from what I've ridden of it so far. Having bought it a few weeks ago, it went back to the dealer to have an overheating issue fixed and has just arrived back this afternoon to be tucked away until Sunday morning, when I'll ride it to work. Mind you, even just firing it up and rolling it up the back lane was a nice feeling.

Hope you get a decent run on Sunday and let us know how you get on.
