I test rode a 1299S back in April and was so mega-impressed with the bike and the deal put in front of me (px my 1098, some cash, small monthly and a biggish balloon) that I bit and placed an order.

Well, I picked her up today and it just such a quantum leap forward from my (2007) 1098. Up and down the box without the clutch is magic, so are the almost seamless flatshifts. It's a technical tour-de-force that gives lots and lots of confidence - and with the most flickable chassis Ive ridden it feels like coming out of the dark ages.

It sounds ace and punches strongly from low rpm. It also (oddly) feels happy pootling along at 55 mph, which my old one didn't and might help the future life of my license. The riding position is just infinitely more comfortable.

Downsides: It run hot and will be horrible if all towns start getting 20mph speed limits (it's fine above 25 but blatantly crap under). Erm, that's it.

I'm very pleased.

Good stuff, sounds like these are a top ride and a big improvement over the 1199 in many areas.

A pic or two wouldn't hurt though wink

What a lovely bit of kit, that's your summer sorted now smile

I cant wait to have a go one, even if its just for an hour, to prove to myself that this "comfort" you talk about is relative wink

Your neighbours must love you with those two!

The quickshifter up and down - half throttle shifts it still manages to be smooth?

Well that's not very practical if you end up in Spain on the bull run with all that 'comfort'. Terrible choice, ill have to take it off you hands as I wont be going.

Half throttle, closed throttle, steady throttle - all buttery smooth. Some real clever electro-wizardry going on.

@Bogie: its a *lot* more comfortable than my old 1098. Give it a whirl.

I'm clueless about bikes and don't have a license but I've got to say that bike is one of the most beautiful I've seen.

Looks brilliant from all angles posted!

He is good - this is after doing mine and a couple of mates, it was getting dark so not the best photo - but they were immaculate:

MMmmmm...sounds promising... the bike club have a 1299 inbound, so I'm hoping to get a play on it at Bruntingthorpe next month (hopefully run in by then!) smile
