Picked up my 1299 today. I'm still speechless.

He's posted this to show me what a "Goon" I am by challenging his comments about police hiding a speed camera in a tractor. Good to see that he's considerably faster on his standard 1299S than BSB riders are on their full fat £200k bikes
He's as big a dreamer as our old friend Castrol Craig and his Walter Mitty race wins.
Goon, try not to live up to your name in 100% of your posts, why not have a day off every now and then. He's as big a dreamer as our old friend Castrol Craig and his Walter Mitty race wins.
No ones ever said that was THE speed, clearly someone with your alleged intelligence can work out it's only an indication on the bikes speedo and is usually 10-15% out?!

By my reckoning/ gearing sheets, 9300 in 6th on the long standard gearing should be about 260kph or about 161 in old money.
Something looks a little out to be reading 175mph at 9300 rpm.
I think most speedos are about 10-15% off these days Something looks a little out to be reading 175mph at 9300 rpm.
Love the way the bike stays so stable under downshifts while leant over, very impressive

There's little wonder I've not been back on here since I asked about turning the anti wheelie ste off the beemer, you boys own the forum your welcome to it,as chillo said its just a vid at the end of a track session,he's clearly somehow fudged the speedo reading just to leave himself open to scrutiny of the laptop warriors on here! It's a road bike and that's what the speedo read END OF! Clearly it's not 100% accurate but who said speedos are! My beeper reads similar on a decent clear lap if I dare look!
Crikey - I just thought I would have a little jibe with the OP re. the speedo reading /flat out/ BSB speed trap relationship - all tongue in cheek and not for a moment to be taken seriously as it is all just bks, evidently - chill out , like Chillo, kick back , do yourself an MTB style Doobie and ask away ( re. the DTC - encompassing anti-wheelie on the BM ) , I'm sure somebody around here knows the answer ....!LoonR1 said:

Off topic but what happened to Castrol Craig ? He's as big a dreamer as our old friend Castrol Craig and his Walter Mitty race wins.
Is he still racing the ZXR ?

I popped on here a few years back, to ask how to fully dis arm the anti wheelie after finding out it was only for 5 seconds unless you press and hold the dtc button,I wish I had never asked,I was told I was full of st more or less, not bothered with the forum since really.
Oh dear . Sorry to hear that - I guess you have experimented since - pretty frisky with it all off .... and even more so once gearing ( and consequently, in most cases, the shortening of wheelbase)has been played with too !PM me for a proper chat some time - it's only make-believe on here you know !

Goon, did you not read Steve's post re gear ratio/revs or are you after more custard or do I need to crack on with a bit more Photoshopping?! He's as big a dreamer as our old friend Castrol Craig and his Walter Mitty race wins.

Thanks, as I said in my update post the up/down qs is fantastic and a real game changer along with the active suspension.Feel lucky to be able to own such a machine
The tyre I had on at the time was really fooked and I had no idea the tc was working it's so subtle! I only thought it was helping in the corner out of the woodland area into the start finish straight when it was actually working on most of the corners. Dtc setting was 2 (I normally have it on 1)

A mate has just sold his 1299S race bike as he couldn't really come right with it but he keeps bleating on that the one thing he misses going back to his '14 ZX10 is the up/down QS. and the power. He reckons the Pani monsters the ZX so it'll be interesting to see how the new RSV4 goes vs his ZX on Friday's track trip.Feel lucky to be able to own such a machine

The K1 front actually lasts very well, I'm really impressed with that! Just wished the rears had more life!
This is the K2 immediately after the final evening session I mentioned before. (YouTube vid) The tyre is worn way past what I normally do on track. The R/H past the wear bars on the edges, the L/H side was just tearing from the amount of wear as suspension not far off.

Not sure running a K1 on the road is the best idea, especially paired with a K3 rear. You'd be far better off on a K3 front & rear for road and then use K1/2 combos for track. Road use won't create the friction required to keep the heat in a K1,which you've kind of alluded to.
I prefer the K1 front with K3 rear, it works great for me, I don't have any issues getting enough heat into the tyre. K2 rear was mega but too good=soft when there is more than enough grip in a K3 for general track day heroics/fast road. The K1 front actually lasts very well, I'm really impressed with that!
