For the money, imho the termis are not worth it. Doesn't make them any quicker, makes them noisier (too noisy for most tracks) and the stock pipe sounds amazing.

Best save up more and go full akra, imo....

Are you keeping to the 6000rpm limit?

I've found second to first requires a slightly firmer press on the pedal to get through neutral or you end up rolling in neutral.

I don't understand what people are talking about when they say ducati are uncomfortable. Except for the heat and the placement of the indicator switch, I'm finding it the most comfortable sports bike I've ever had.

Lovely bike, hope you're enjoying it, still is the best looking superbike out today.
Out of interest what has changed so much from the 1199?, apart from now having an extra 100cc?.
Reason I ask is I didn't get on that well with an 1199 when I test rode one, although I think partly that could have been helped by having longer on the bike.

Lots new on the 1299, inc:

  • Lots more lowdown grunt, power hike to 205 bhp
  • Quickshift down & up
  • Active suspension
  • Revised geometry better suited to the road
^ Cornering ABS
  • Programmable anti-wheelie and engine braking
  • Full LED lights
  • Better pegs

Lovely bike.

Tried to get a test ride of an 899 recently but the nearest dealer couldn't supply one.
Looks like I will have to travel over 60 miles just to try one out. Bit of a pain.

Got mine last Monday.

Unfortunately as I left for the TT on Wednesday it was misfiring and then caught fire about two miles from home.

Riders Bristol came out and picked it up and gave me their 1299 s to take to the island

Weapon.

Does "speechless" best " bike less" in the "hot bike / weapon "stakes...( steaks)..??

My pal borrowed a tester three weeks back - it didn't catch fire , it was a decent ride and he returned it intact . I was offered the ride - declined - enjoyed my day . That's it really .

Joking aside - amazing bikes , just not my thing for my purposes...enjoy!

Love my 1198 though and its crazy midrange punch!
Have got a demo arranged on a 1299s in a few weeks when i take mine into Italia Lincoln for its annual.

So it is you biggrin

I agree, had an enjoyable year with an 1198S and they were quite savage and a complete handful on twisty, bumpy roads but they were fun - everything a Ducati should be - none of this poncey Panigale bks wink

Oh aye, the clutch fell off the end of the crank at 900 miles leaving me stranded and the traction control was a total bh and not to be relied upon - turning it off was the only cure then you ran the gauntlet of HUGE torque.

Keep it.

Very nice! The 1299 is the first Panigale that I could see at some point tempting me away from my 1198. Everyone seems to be buying the 1299S, but for me it's the 1299 that appeals most.

interesting Pete... care to explain you thoughts??

Myself and a mate were at the Duc dealer here, he's trying to chase up his 1299S that's on a never shortening delivery schedule. But he's now torn between the S and the base as this will be a 100% race bike, no road use. So is it better to get the base and uprate the suspension ( I believe so) or is the S a better package?
Personally, I'm not sold on adaptive suspension on a race bike and would rather buy pukka Ohlins/K Tech every time

UK list for S is £3800 more than non-S bike. It's the same bike (unlike S models of the 90s/early 00s) other than the 'leccy suspension and a few details, which I'm not bothered by and adds to the list of things that could go wrong. I'd be buying cash rather than PCP, so the difference to me is material and I'd far rather spend the money on a suspension set up/re-valve/re-spring and a nice exhaust with dyno set-up time.

Other than that I'm worried that dropping £20k on a bike would have me worrying too much about a spill. A good deal on a standard 1299 will be back into my mental range of 'acceptable losses'. With commodities prices normalising, labour costs largely flat and a weak Euro, these prices are starting to look a little salty.
