I've been struggling with the clutch on my bike, seems very heavy, I also have sport related injury that means my grip is weak.

I am hoping that the adjustability of the levers will help and maybe the design.

I presume the longer clutch lever would suit better and not the 'Shorty', but I do prefer the look of the shorty and my get this for the brake lever.

Any advice appreciated before I hit the Buy it now.

I have long ASV levers on my 675 and they're great. I have the short ones on the 899 and i do find myself wanting a little more leverage for one finger braking, but that's prob because i'm a massive fairy - i don't have the same issue with the clutch however.

Doubt if changing the levers with make any difference to the weight apart from the length.

If your clutch is hydraulic then a different master cylinder is what you need. Had a similar issue on a RSVR few years back. Changed the OEM one for aftermarket and the difference wad night and day. If I remember correctly it was a darn sight cheaper than a set of leavers as well.

ok thanks for replies.

Being a long lever without adjustment, I do struggle with it around town and find that I need to use all 4 fingers. So I think with adjustable ones I can bring the lever closer. They also look the nuts.

I think I may go for the long option on both sides, just to even things up as a mix of long and short may look a bit strange.

at £165 for the pair I think that pretty good value.

If it's a cable it might be worth forking out for a new one.

After all it is 12-13 years old and has probably never been replaced.

Yes I may have a look at the cable, I presume it wont be a major job to replace.

Try a new cable. I just installed new throttle cables on one of my bikes and it made the world of difference.

As for levers, I found the long levers easier to use. When I had shorty style levers I ended up using at least 3 fingers or my ring finger got in the way of the clutch lever. The long levers also gave better leverage. Also if you have A* gloves with the weird little finger join, it makes shorties very difficult to use.

Well thankyou wildfire, I may give that a go.:-)

I will go for the long ASV's, there is a set on ebay unused as the seller brought the wrong model numbers, so may get a good deal.

Loving the ASV levers, a quality product, easy to fit and look really good.

The only problem I had was when I adjusted the lever too much where the reach wasn't as far, as the bike would not start as the sensor would not trip, as on my bike you have to pull in the clutch to start the bike.

They have made the clutch easier to operate, but I have also ordered a new clutch cable.

I haven't found this a problem. You must have funny fingers tongue out I find it easy to use shortie levers, regardless of wearing gloves with a finger bridge.

Oh, and another +1 for shortie ASV levers. I love 'em!

I too have shorties but would prefer longer ones, but these came on the bike.

Shorty clutch lever is fine. I'm not that impressed with the Daytona 675 brakes for something 20 years newer than my old bike, but i think it's the lack of leverage with the shorty lever. I don't need shorties to prevent me grabbing with four fingers - I never have and never will - so longer levers would be better.
