Lol.. these posts sum it up.

Is it so difficult for bikers to fking understand that some petrol stations are subject to thieves and so the company running the pump implement a policy. The poor sod working there isn't responsible for the policy!

Also having a go at the attendents isn't going to help.

Just take your lid off and if you are that outraged go somewhere else.
I know, that's why I put the word 'irrationally' in, albeit with dodgy spelling smile

And I was perfectly polite to the attendant.

Come on we've only have one me tion of a burka. Where are all the Britisn First, all Muslims are scum type posts from this?

It usually goes
1. I had to remove my helmet
2. It's discrimination
3. They don't make them remove their burkas
4. They're all terrorists
5. Let's head off on a Britian First / UKIP rant depending on your level of bigotry.

I went to the commonwealth cousins shop right next to my work to buy an ice cream yesterday, it clearly said Cornettos were £1.30. I bought two, he went "that's £1.50 each" I went, says £1.30, "not today there £1.50", it was hot, I don't like to argue.

I bought my Cornettos, complained about it in the office, then on a forum, whilst deciding I wouldn't be back.

Its the British way....
The right thing to do is go back in December when the few they have left are out of date and there are boxes of noodles covering the ice-cream fridge. Lay two Cornettos on the counter and hand over £2.
"They're £1.30 each" he will say.
"Not today they're not."
I just don't bother going back, that or I write a strongly worded letter and usually get a nice wee apology, and a free trackday.

Dear Commonwealth Cousin,

I recently visited your store and whilst there, I perused your frozen desert cabinet for a refreshing, tantalising, topping filled smooth ice cream desert. Once I had immediately dismissed the foosty st, that now had welded itself onto the glacier ridden freezer tray which has never seen the light of day. My eyes were met with a crispy baked wafer, laced with delicious strawberry and vanilla ice cream, sprinkled with a smidgen of hazelnut and meringue nutty thingys. I looked at the price of this Cornetto, and I vividly remember thinking how much of a bargain £1.30 was for a ice cream that had been ripped out a multi-bag and flung into a freezer cabinet.

I took my Cornetto's, to the counter. I was greeted by a fellow commonwealth citizen. I handed over the correct money but this gallus, sleekit of a man said I had to pay an extra 20p more as it was a hot day.

Naturally, at this point I felt like slamming the Cornetto down on the counter, pointed end up, grabbing the shop attendant by the scruff of the neck and hurtling his fking head down straight through the Cornetto, spearing his pupil in the process with the wafer filled chocolate tip whilst singing "just one Cornetto, GIVE IT TO ME"

However, at this point I remembered I am not Liam Neeson, so I paid the price and wrote you this letter.

Regards

MTB

Wear a burqa under your leathers and helmet next time.
Done that with a thermal balaclava, it was quite funny but they gave up at that point.

My guess is they are more worried on someone riding off without paying for fuel (and no face on camera) than they are on the wearing of the helmet in the shop.
In my local garage you can fill up with your helmet on, but must remove it to enter the shop. So I guess they're more worried about being robbed than me stealing petrol. I usually use the pump right outside the window so they can see I've removed my gloves and placed them on the seat showing that I'm not intending on making a quick getaway. Always struck me as a pointless exercise.

I don't think I ever had this issue when I had a flip up lid (and flipped it up).
But then even garages with signs saying remove lids (which I tend to notice on the way out, whilst still wearing full lid) don't ask me to remove it. It might be something to do with how improbable they think their store will be held up by someone of yoda's size, who's spent 5 minutes fumbling about with gloves, then had a little panic about the whereabouts of their credit card (last pocket rummaged in), skidded on some diesel on the way into the shop, and run back to remove keys from the fuel cap.

Except Tesco. They trust no-one.

the new shell station at junc31a m6 has that policy, yesterday it was said that i should remove helmet if i didn't mind

i did, stood there with loyalty points card and visa in said sweaty mit, i clearly had every intention of paying.

as has been said they don't make the policy just get told to enforce it and thus get the abuse either from the franchise owner for not enforcing it or from us for enforcing it poor sods cannot win

Petrol station I normally use doesn't bother, but last time I was in the attendant gestured to me to take my helmet off as I walked to the shop.

I understand why some people get annoyed but as already said, they don't set the rules they've just got to enforce them.

I took my lid off and they thanked me. I said in return could you do something for me and clean up the diesel slick at the pump please?

I don't see the point in gettin annoyed myself but I've got bigger issues to worry about.
