I find that by the time I've unzipped my two piece leathers, removed back protector, hopped around getting boots and leathers off, lid, balaclava, slinky pro skin under garments, the queue has built up and the moment for flashing at the fuel station has passed.

Removing Your Helmet At A Petrol Station...made me think of baron von grumble's video rant.

Wear a balaclava underneath, yeah.

Worst case is every bike that turns up steals £20 and a few of them also hold up the station and clean out the tills. Insuramce costs rocket and the station closes, causing jobs to be lost. Meanwhile, the local police are tied up trying tomdeal, with this easy to fix situation whilst some more serious crimes are being carried out.

Note the use of worst case scenario.
Also note the use of insuramce tomdeal, yours truly, the thread muppet.
Yeah, you're right, a few typos on a small iPhone screen are just as bad as a ranting Islamophobe, Britain First, knuckledragging, Neanderthal.

They do know that motorcyclists usually wear leathers rather than tin foil right? Mugs.

You stole a bike. You robbed the petrol station. You had a helmet on so you couldn't be identified.

Thought everybody knew that.
I don't think the people in your scenario ever filled up first ?

If your not out it the sticks where petrol stations have buttons to press like something out of the Millennium Falcon, just use pay at the pump. Simple as peas.

Jeepers this weather I can't get my helmet off quick enough when I stop.

There was a Morrisons one near me that did this to every biker. But after getting berrated on local bike Facebook groups they seemed to stop. I actually have a video from my helmet cam of the person behind the till claiming it was going to become the law to remove your helmet when you fill up with fuel... strange people.

You videoed paying at the till? Why?

Out of interest do you have the camera stuck to your helmet? If so, how do you think the helmet would fare in an accident? whenever, I see one, all I think is that it's a perfect way of punching a hole straight through the helmet.

Hi, I just hadn't switched it off from being out on the road and I've mounted it in the top of the helmet, figured its safer there than the side, but yeah I know what you mean. Anyway, that was some time ago, I use a different helmet now and don't attach it to that because I don't want to ruin the helmet with a sticky pad.

What is so difficult to understand about 'their premises, their rules'?

As long as it's legal they don't have to justify it, just as you don't have the give them your custom.
I know, I know smile

I just felt like a rant, I'm not trying to make a point.

Although if I stole a bike, I'm not entirely sure I would to a petrol station to fill up, seems a bit risky...
But if you kept your helmet on, ah hold on ...

4. They're all terrorists
5. Let's head off on a Britian First / UKIP rant depending on your level of bigotry.
So Baron Von Grumble is a racist?Interesting, even merely commenting about his video on Youtube going through this exact same situation as the op, made 'me' a moron to boot!Baron was spot on in his video,he's told to take off his helmet,he then wraps his scarf completely around the whole of his face and he gets served??You could see more of people's faces with a helmet on!!!

Is standard fare for this argument to head off on that route. The argument is facile.

You can't see any of my face at all, because I have a dark tint visor.

So what possible argument is there for having to remove a helmet?

I don't know. I don't own a petrol station. Maybe they want to see the faces of their customers, maybe they know that crash helmets are used by robbers, instead of balaclavas, maybe they just want to see people's shiny white teeth.

Whatever the reason is, it is the vendors prerogative if they want you to take off your helmet before they will serve you. If you don't like it then you can shop elsewhere.

Out of interest would you walk into many shops still wearing your helmet? Would you walk down the High St doing so?
